(Haiphong.gov.vn) - At noon on July 29, Chairman of the City People's Committee Do Thanh Trung chaired a reception for the delegation of Honorary Consulates and Vietnamese Ambassadors abroad led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang on the occasion of the delegation's visit to pay a courtesy call and learn about Hai Phong's potential and preferential investment policies. The visit was within the framework of the 2nd Vietnam Honorary Consulate Conference, contributing to opening up many opportunities to connect international investment and trade with Hai Phong.
Attending the meeting were Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong, representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches and units.

In a welcome speech at the meeting, the Chairman of the City People's Committee expressed his honor to welcome the Honorary Consulate and Vietnamese Ambassadors; At the same time, we would like to thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang for connecting and supporting the delegation to Hai Phong. Informing the Working Group about the local socio-economic development situation, the city leaders clearly stated that Hai Phong is a large seaport city, a traffic hub and an important growth pole of the Northern key economic region. After cooperation and merger according to the new policy of the Central Government, Hai Phong now has an area of nearly 3,200 km² with an economic scale of more than 29 billion USD, ranking 3rd in the country.

In the first 6 months of 2026, the city's socio-economic momentum continues to maintain a strong breakthrough: total state budget revenue reached more than 113 trillion VND; FDI capital attraction reached 2.93 billion USD; Export turnover reached nearly 26 billion USD and output of goods through the port reached 96 million tons. Hai Phong is aiming to build an integrated ecosystem of seaports - logistics - industry - international trade, becoming a modern logistics center of the region. The city always considers international cooperation as an important development driver and prioritizes attracting investment in the fields of high technology, smart manufacturing, semiconductors, AI, green energy and digital transformation. City leaders expect Ambassadors and Honorary Consuls with prestige and extensive network of relationshipsIn the host country, it will be a bridge to bring businesses and international organizations to learn and cooperate with Hai Phong; At the same time, we commit that the city will always accompany and create the most favorable conditions for investors.

Thanking the leaders of Hai Phong city for the respectful and thoughtful welcome, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized that the visit took place within the framework of the 2nd Vietnam Honorary Consulate Conference. Currently, the network has 48 Honorary Consuls who are prestigious individuals, have resources and are emotionally attached to Vietnam, acting as an important "extended arm" of the diplomatic sector. Choosing Hai Phong as a working destination, the Organizing Committee wishes to create a practical connection space for the Honorary Consuls to witness firsthand the dynamic development and attractive investment environment of the port city. The Deputy Minister believes that the visit will provide many vivid materials for the Honorary Consuls to actively promote the image of Hai Phong and connect with the world.bringing many international investment, trade and tourism resources to the city.

In the working program, the delegation watched a video clip comprehensively introducing Hai Phong's potential, strengths, and development space and discussed with representatives of the city's departments and branches about directions and opportunities for cooperation in the coming time.
