(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of July 30, the City People's Committee solemnly held a conference to announce the Prime Minister's Decisions on Economic Zones, launch the Hai Phong Free Trade Zone and award Investment Registration Certificates to projects with a total capital of about 3.2 billion USD.
Attending the Conference were comrade Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; together with leaders of ministries and central branches.
On the side of Hai Phong city leaders, there are comrades: Le Ngoc Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation; Do Thanh Trung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee; Do Manh Hien, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee; Members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Council, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee and a large number of delegates, representatives of business associations, domestic and foreign investors.
Speaking to welcome the Conference, City Party Secretary Le Ngoc Chau affirmed that this is an important event to promote the business investment environment, attract multinational corporations and strategic investors to industrial parks and economic zones, especially Hai Phong City Free Trade Zone (FTZ Hai Phong). With the theme "Creating new growth space", Hai Phong focuses on developing key fields such as logistics, seaport services, high-tech industry, innovation, digital transformation and green transformation, determined to build the city into the country's leading economic center, a modern and livable international seaport urban area.
According to the announcement at the Conference, Hai Phong Specialized Economic Zone (scale of 5,300 hectares) and Southern Coastal Economic Zone of Hai Phong (scale of about 20,000 hectares) were established according to the Decisions of the Prime Minister. Besides, Hai Phong City Free Trade Zone has a scale of about 6,292 hectares associated with key economic zones. Operating the Hai Phong FTZ with unique and outstanding mechanisms and policies according to the National Assembly's Resolution will create important institutional leverage, shaping a highly competitive high-tech production, logistics and international trade network in the region.
Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau highly appreciated Hai Phong for proactively creating new development space. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Hai Phong has all the fundamental elements to pioneer in innovating growth models. The formation of new generation Economic Zones and Free Trade Zones will create a dynamic development map, connecting from the West to the sea, from production to global trade. The Deputy Prime Minister proposed that the city government continue to promote administrative reform, considering the success of investors as the success of the city; At the same time, he affirmed that the Government is committed to always accompanying and maintaining a stable and transparent policy environment so that Hai Phong becomes a strategic destination for new generation investment capital flows.
Give Investment Registration Certificates to business representatives
At the Conference, the People's Committee of Hai Phong city awarded new Investment Registration Certificates and adjusted capital increases for 13 projects with a total capital of about 2.6 billion USD (typically the 1 billion USD super project of producing semiconductor chip circuits of LG Innotek Vietnam Co., Ltd. at Hai Phong FTZ), and at the same time awarded 02 Memorandums of Understanding on cooperation in developing industrial park infrastructure with an expected total capital of 540 million USD. The total investment capital of projects awarded Investment Registration Certificates and Memoranda of Understanding at the Conference reached about 3.2 billion US dollars.
In his closing speech at the Conference, Chairman of the City People's Committee Do Thanh Trung respectfully thanked the attention of the Government, Ministries and branches and affirmed that Hai Phong is committed to always accompanying and creating the most favorable conditions for investors' projects to be implemented quickly, effectively and sustainably.
Before entering the official session of the Conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau, city leaders and a large number of delegates visited the Exhibition of planning space, images and development achievements with the theme "Creating new growth space". The exhibition displays and introduces the overall planning map of the Specialized Economic Zone, the Southern Coastal Economic Zone, the Hai Phong Free Trade Zone model along with the achievements, potential, industrial strengths, logistics services, and high technology of the port city in the new development phase./.
