On the morning of September 16, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Anh Quan received the delegation of the Singapore Embassy in Vietnam along with officials from the Singapore Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brunei, led by Deputy Ambassador of Singapore to Vietnam Donald Tsang, to visit and work in Hai Phong.
Welcoming the delegation to visit and work in Hai Phong, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Anh Quan informed the basic features of Hai Phong's socio-economic development achievements, geographical location advantages, traffic system and open administrative procedures, contributing to creating an attractive investment environment, promoting Hai Phong's rapid and sustainable development.
The entire city currently has more than 1,700 foreign investment projects from more than 40 countries and territories, with a total registered capital of more than 50 billion USD. In the eight months of 2025 alone, the city attracts 1.9 billion USD. Hai Phong has been approved by the Government to establish a coastal economic zone south of Hai Phong with an area of about 20,000 hectares. This is a comprehensive coastal economic zone following the model of green growth, circular economy, and sustainable development, including a free trade zone with breakthrough and outstanding mechanisms and policies.
Expressing his joy at the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore that is increasingly deepening and creating practical benefits for the people and businesses of the two countries, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Anh Quan emphasized that with many similar characteristics, in recent times, cooperation between Hai Phong and Singapore's partners has achieved many important results. As of September 2025, Singapore has 1,434 projects in Hai Phong with a total investment capital of nearly 11 billion USD, ranking 2nd in capital among countries and territories investing in Hai Phong. These projects have made many positive contributions to the overall development of the city.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee hopes that after the visit and working session, the Delegation will have more valuable experiences, better understand the development potential as well as cooperation opportunities in Hai Phong, thereby promoting strong cooperative relations between the two sides, contributing to cultivating friendship and common development in the future.
Thanking the city leaders for the respectful welcome, Singapore Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Donald Tsang said that with many potentials and advantages, Hai Phong is a safe and effective investment destination for foreign investors, including investors from Singapore. In the coming time, Singapore will continue to further strengthen investment cooperation in Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular. In the strategy to expand the VSIP industrial park network in many provinces and cities of Vietnam, VSIP Hai Phong Industrial Park will be the center.
Appreciating the efforts of the local government in inviting, attracting and supporting FDI investors to cooperate and do business in Hai Phong, the Deputy Ambassador expressed his belief that in the coming time, more Singaporean businesses and partners will come to seek opportunities and expand investment in the city to further promote cooperation between the two sides in many fields./.
