On the morning of October 8, in Hanoi, the plenary session of the International Freight Forwarders Association Congress (FIATA World Congress 2025) officially opened with the theme "Green logistics, rapid adaptation".
The event was organized by the Vietnam Logistics Services Business Association (VLA) in collaboration with the Federation of International Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), attracting more than 1,200 delegates from 150 countries and territories. Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong attended and gave a speech at the Plenary Session.
In his opening speech, FIATA President Turgut Erkeskin emphasized: "FIATA is gradually developing in a modern, professional and creative direction, towards comprehensive digitalization with the implementation of electronic bills of lading, mobile applications and smart logistics solutions. FIATA is committed to accompanying member countries in promoting green transformation, forming a global logistics network that is transparent, safe and adapts faster to fluctuations in the world economy." FIATA President also affirmed that Vietnam's hosting of FIATA World Congress 2025 demonstrates the trust of the international logistics community in Vietnam, a dynamic logistics center of the Asia - Pacific region.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong said: Hai Phong is the leading industrial, seaport and logistics center in the country, the only locality in the North that owns all 5 modes of transport (road, rail, sea, air, inland waterway). The city serves as a trade gateway to the Northern Coastal region and is a strategic connection point between the two economic corridors of Vietnam and China.
Currently, Hai Phong's logistics system has more than 700 hectares of warehouses, with a growth rate of 20–23%/year, contributing 13–15% of GRDP. According to the plan, by 2030, the entire city's logistics area will reach 1,700–2,000 hectares, aiming to form the Dinh Vu - Cat Hai International Logistics Center and other specialized, regional centers.
In particular, Resolution 226 of the National Assembly (issued on June 27, 2025) on the specific mechanism for developing Hai Phong allows the city to pilot a Free Trade Zone integrating a non-tariff zone, high-tech industrial park, logistics center, finance - trade, banking and development research. This is an important breakthrough, opening up a new, modern and internationally competitive institutional space.
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee affirmed: Hai Phong is developing based on three strategic economic pillars - high-tech industry; seaport – logistics; tourism - trade, and at the same time commit to creating a transparent and favorable investment environment, ready to listen and absorb opinions from the business community, domestic and foreign partners to promote green and sustainable logistics development.
FIATA World Congress 2025 lasts from October 6 - 10, is the largest event in the global logistics industry, held for the first time in Vietnam. Hai Phong participated with two exhibition booths at the National Convention Center, introducing the image of a modern, dynamic port city rich in investment potential - affirming its position as a pioneer in green logistics development, rapid adaptation and sustainability./.
