On the morning of October 2, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau chaired a courtesy meeting with Mr. Kees van Baar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Vietnam. Attending the meeting were Head of Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board Le Trung Kien and leaders of relevant departments and branches.
Speaking at the reception, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau emphasized: The Netherlands is one of the important European partners of Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular. The city always appreciates the multifaceted friendship and cooperation between the two countries, the attention and support of the Ambassador and the practical cooperation results of Dutch businesses in Hai Phong.
Currently, the city has 16 Dutch foreign direct investment projects with a total registered capital of 361 million USD, ranking 12th in number of projects and 11th in total FDI capital in Hai Phong. In particular, in April 2025, APM Terminals Group of the Netherlands opened a representative office in Hai Phong and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Hateco Group in the field of international container port operations. Next, in July 2025, city leaders worked with CTP Group - the leading industrial park developer in the Netherlands to research and implement an ecological industrial park model for sustainable development in Hai Phong.
Chairman of the City People's Committee expressed his hope that Ambassador Kees van Baar will continue to be a bridge to promote cooperation, investment promotion and trade activities, especially in the fields of seaports, logistics, high-tech industry, shipbuilding, clean energy... Hai Phong commits to accompany and create favorable conditions to realize these cooperation opportunities.
Ambassador Kees van Baar congratulated Hai Phong's development achievements, affirming that the city is always an important destination in the Netherlands' investment strategy in Vietnam. The Ambassador also proposed that during the visit to Vietnam in November by the Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, the Dutch business delegation on seaport development will have a working session with city leaders to learn more about the planning and development of the port and logistics system in Hai Phong./.
