(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of March 20, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung had a courtesy meeting with the delegation of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management led by Mr. Mark Harbers, Minister. Also attending were Mr. Kees van Baar, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Vietnam; along with representatives of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, the Dutch Embassy in Vietnam and representatives of city departments and branches.

Welcoming the delegation of the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management of the Netherlands to visit and work in the city, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung introduced a few details about Hai Phong, which is the third largest locality in the country. Hai Phong currently owns the advantages of a deep-water seaport, international airport, and a road system with good connectivity between localities. Besides, the city also welcomes and offers many incentives for businesses investing in local economic zones.

Up to now, Hai Phong's foreign direct investment (FDI) has reached 30 billion USD, with more than 800 projects from 43 countries. Among them, Hai Phong currently has 16 Dutch FDI projects with a total investment capital of more than 302 million USD, ranking 10th in FDI capital in Hai Phong and 9th in number of projects. The Chairman of the City People's Committee expressed his hope that through the meeting, the Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management will pay attention and call on Dutch businesses to visit and invest in the city.
In the coming time, Hai Phong will continue to cooperate with Dutch businesses in the field of shipbuilding and wharf construction at Lach Huyen Port area. The Chairman of the City People's Committee hopes that Dutch businesses will come and invest in the field of logistics and seaports, specifically Nam Do Son Port area.

At the meeting, Mr. Mark Harbers, Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management of the Netherlands, thanked the city for welcoming the delegation to work in Hai Phong, and said the two sides have a long tradition in maritime cooperation. Up to now, the majority of Dutch and Hai Phong businesses are interested in the shipbuilding and maritime sectors - a common point for cooperation between the two countries. The Minister highly appreciated the efforts of the city's departments and branches in improving the investment environment and supporting businesses to invest. He hopes that in addition to the current projects of Dutch businesses in Hai Phong (Damen - Song Cam, ZF Automotive Vietnam, APM Terminals, etc.,), many Dutch businesses in other fields will also invest in the locality in the near future./.
