Following the working program of the Hai Phong City Leadership Delegation to Korea, on August 14, the delegation had a working session with representatives of senior leaders of LG Group in Seoul. Attending the meeting was comrade Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Phong city.
In attendance were comrades: Le Trung Kien, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Management Board of Hai Phong Economic Zone; Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee.
LG is a large Korean corporation, currently having many businesses in Hai Phong.
Comrade Secretary of Hai Phong City Party Committee highly appreciated the efforts in implementing the project of LG Group in the city. Hai Phong always pays attention and listens to the opinions of investors and large corporations, promptly grasping and removing difficulties and obstacles. The city appreciates and acknowledges LG's objective opinions and positive comments on Hai Phong's business investment environment at the meeting with senior Vietnamese leaders on the delegation's business trip to Korea on this occasion. Thereby helping the Korean business community clearly understand the business investment environment in Hai Phong which is constantly improving.
Hai Phong wants LG Group to continue expanding its business investment activities, considering the city as the group's "base" in Vietnam for producing LG's key products to the international market. The City commits to continue accompanying and creating the most favorable conditions to support LG in maintaining and continuing to implement the project in Hai Phong effectively and for sustainable development.
The City Party Secretary informed that Hai Phong has been approved to establish the Southern Coastal Economic Zone with the orientation of being a green, ecological economic zone, with specific preferential policies, including a free trade zone, which is a great opportunity for current and future investors. After Hai Phong city and Hai Duong province merged to form the new Hai Phong city, it opened a new era of development, a strategic investment destination and at the same time created a large-scale clean land fund, an abundant labor source, and a synchronously invested infrastructure system - a favorable foundation for foreign investors. Along with that, Hai Phong has been issued a Resolution by the National Assembly allowing the establishment of a Free Trade Zone with many outstanding and groundbreaking mechanisms and policies.
Hai Phong city leaders asked LG Group to pay attention to research to expand investment in new LG projects in Hai Phong, especially in the free trade zone and the Southern Coastal Economic Zone; Calls on partners and suppliers in LG's production chain to cooperate and invest in Hai Phong as well as connect with Hai Phong businesses to participate more deeply in the Group's supply chain. It is recommended that LG Group continue to pay more attention to implementing research, investing, building an R&D research and development center, innovation, and technology transfer in Hai Phong city to become a leading model for other FDI enterprises.
The representative of LG Group expressed his appreciation that the city leaders always value, care about, regularly listen to, and accompany in solving problems and difficulties in the production and business process in Hai Phong. Affirming that in recent years, thanks to the close support of the city, LG companies in Hai Phong have maintained stable production.
Hai Phong is a strategic city in LG Group's development plan, as evidenced by the Group's increased capital of more than 2 billion USD to invest in projects in Hai Phong. The Group also steps up efforts to cooperate with the city for the community and labor training. The Group pledges to continue to pay attention to investment in Hai Phong and ensure policies for workers, promoting the search for domestic partners.
