On July 15, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong received delegations of embassies, business associations and international businesses to pay courtesy calls and learn about investment cooperation opportunities in Hai Phong.
Informing the delegations at the reception and meeting, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong introduced an overview of the potential, advantages as well as development orientation of Hai Phong city. The Vice Chairman emphasized that the merger of Hai Duong province into Hai Phong city, forming the new Hai Phong city, has expanded the development space, strengthened potential and opened up many opportunities to attract investment in the city's strong areas.
Hai Phong's transportation and industrial infrastructure are invested synchronously and modernly, creating an attractive investment environment, contributing to attracting more and more large-scale FDI projects. Up to now, the entire city has 1,730 foreign investment projects from 44 countries and territories, with a total registered capital of nearly 50 billion USD; In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, the city has attracted more than 1.5 billion USD of FDI investment capital.
The city has been approved by the Vietnamese Government to establish Hai Phong Southern Coastal Economic Zone with an area of about 20,000 hectares - an integrated coastal economic zone following the model of green growth, circular economy, sustainable development, including a free trade zone with breakthrough and outstanding mechanisms and policies; Connecting with other coastal economic zones, creating a driving force for development in the Red River Delta

As of last June, China had 620 FDI projects with a total capital of 9.5 billion USD, ranking first in number of projects and third in investment capital among 44 countries and territories investing in Hai Phong.
