On the morning of July 15, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Vietnam, the Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam, the President of the European Business Association in Vietnam (EuroCham) and representatives of CTP Group to visit and work in Hai Phong to promote cooperation, exchange investment opportunities and expand connections between Hai Phong city and international partners.
Pleased to welcome the delegations of Ambassadors, Associations, and businesses to visit Hai Phong, the Chairman of the City People's Committee introduced the city's development situation. From July 1, 2025, Hai Phong city will be established on the basis of merging the natural area and population of Hai Phong city (old) and Hai Duong province. Hai Phong city currently has an area of nearly 3,200 km2, a total population of over 4.6 million people, and its total GRDP product ranks third in the country.
In the first 6 months of 2025, Hai Phong continues to maintain growth momentum, GRDP increased by 11.2% over the same period; The output of goods through the port reached over 86 million tons, an increase of 12% over the same period. The city's transportation and industrial infrastructure are invested synchronously and modernly, contributing to creating an attractive investment environment, attracting more and more large-scale FDI projects. The entire city of Hai Phong currently has 1,900 foreign investment projects from 44 countries and territories, with a total registered capital of nearly 50 billion USD; The first 6 months of 2025 alone attracted over 1.5 billion USD. Currently, Belgium has 08 FDI projects investing in Hai Phong city with a total capital of 743 million USD.
This afternoon, July 15, 2025, the city will hold an Investment Promotion Conference within the framework of Session 3 of the APEC Business Advisory Council. This is the city's largest foreign affairs and investment promotion event of the year. At this Conference, the city will award Investment Certificates and Investment Cooperation Memoranda with a total value of about 15.6 billion USD.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee wishes to continue to receive companionship and support from Ambassadors, Associations, and businesses, especially in the fields of high-tech industry, renewable energy, seaports - logistics, and smart cities, which are strengths of countries, corporations and businesses.
