(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of March 28, Comrade Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation received a courtesy call on Mr. Ito Naoki, Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam. Also attending were Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee and leaders of relevant departments and branches.
Comrade Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau pledged that Hai Phong will always accompany Japanese businesses investing in Hai Phong.
Happy to welcome the Ambassador to visit the city, the City Party Secretary said: Hai Phong has good relationships with 7 localities and many Japanese businesses. The first Industrial Park in Hai Phong is owned by a Japanese enterprise. After 26 years of operation, it has been very successful in attracting investment to Hai Phong. Currently, the city has 147 projects of Japanese enterprises with investment capital of 4.5 billion USD, ranking 3rd in number of projects and 2nd in FDI capital. Import-export turnover between Hai Phong and Japan in 2024 will reach more than 5 billion USD. Besides, the city currently has 8 projects from Japan's ODA funds, all of which have high economic, political, and diplomatic effectiveness. In addition, Hai Phong also has many investment projects of Japanese non-governmental organizationsClean water, environment... These projects, in addition to economic value, also have profound humanistic value. On behalf of the Government and People of Hai Phong, the Secretary of the City Party Committee thanked the Government and People of Japan for always giving good feelings and supporting Hai Phong city.
On this occasion, the Secretary of the City Party Committee introduced the city's socio-economic development situation, emphasizing Hai Phong's position in the Northern region, with a synchronous infrastructure system, inter-regional and world transport connections; has the largest seaport system in the North and high-speed rail projects are preparing to be implemented.
Currently, Hai Phong is actively establishing more industrial parks ready to attract new investors. The Government has also just announced the Decision to establish the Southern Coastal Economic Zone in Hai Phong with many conditions to develop more projects on the airport, Nam Do Son port, Free Trade Zone, industrial parks, industrial clusters, new urban areas... The city is ready to create conditions and accompany Japanese businesses to survey and seek business investment and cooperation opportunities in Hai Phong.
At the meeting, the Secretary of the City Party Committee respectfully invited the Ambassador to attend the 70th Anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day and the Red Poinciana Festival this coming May.
Mr. Ito Naoki, Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam, believes that after the working trip, the potentials and opportunities will be concretized into projects.
Sincerely thanking the city leaders for their thoughtful welcome, Mr. Ito Naoki, Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam, expressed his impression with Hai Phong's double-digit development rate over the past 10 years. Especially, on the orientation and goals of green transformation and sustainable development. The Ambassador was also particularly impressed with the teaching of Japanese in schools in Hai Phong. At the same time, the Japanese side expressed its willingness to provide textbooks and support native teachers to teach in Hai Phong. In 2025, there will be two major cultural events in Japan. The Ambassador invited city leaders and people of Hai Phong to attend, to have more opportunities for exchange between the two sides.
