(Haiphong.gov.vn) - After more than 20 months of construction, on the afternoon of January 31, Ben Rung bridge connecting Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong city and Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province officially joined the two banks of Quang Ninh - Hai Phong across Da Bach river. Up to this point, Ben Rung Bridge has completed more than 95% of the construction volume.

This is a key transportation project, a cooperation between the two localities of Quang Ninh - Hai Phong in the goal of inter-regional connection, contributing to improving traffic service capacity, promoting the solidarity and close relationship between the people of the two localities, gradually perfecting the transportation network of the Northern Key Economic Region.
Ben Rung Bridge has a design of 1,865.3m long, 21.5m wide surface, 4 motor vehicle lanes and 2 mixed lanes, and synchronous auxiliary infrastructure such as safety strips, median strips, lighting systems, traffic safety equipment... with a total investment of nearly 2,000 billion VND. Investment capital is used from the central budget, the budget of Hai Phong city and Quang Ninh province.

Mr. Do Tuan Anh, General Director of Hai Phong Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that construction started in May 2022, this afternoon January 31, the Ben Rung bridge project was officially completed. Currently, the work on both sides of the path has been installed and poured concrete on the bridge deck of the spans; The main bridge project in the middle of the river has basically completed the entire concrete structure including 3 main towers and balanced cantilevers. Currently, the contractor has completed 380/380 bored piles, 39/39 abutments and piers. Construction machinery and means are mobilized to the maximum. The construction unit also set up a concrete mixing plant close to the main bridge piers on the river to save time.
The 2.2km long Quang Ninh road connecting Ben Rung bridge with the intersection of provincial road 338, the section passing through Song Khoai commune (Quang Yen town) is also being accelerated in construction; The last approach span on the Quang Ninh side connecting the approach bridge with the main bridge has also been completed and is compatible. Currently, the shore path on the Hai Phong side is under construction. In parallel with the organization of construction of the main items, the contractor has currently implemented the construction of the railing system, asphalt spreading, and expansion joints to ensure synchronous completion of the items.
>The Ben Rung bridge project is the third bridge connecting Quang Ninh province with Hai Phong city, after Da Bac and Bach Dang bridges. The completed bridge will help people in Quang Yen town and Thuy Nguyen district travel quickly, without having to wait for the Rung ferry for 30-60 minutes, or having to go 40 km to Highway 18 and then turn around to Highway 10 like before. The completion of the Ben Rung Bridge project will create a new driving force for regional connectivity, promote economic, cultural and social development between the two localities and attract human resources for industrial parks.
