Located in the southwest of the city, 5km from the city center, is a backup airport for Noi Bai international airport, not only serving domestic flights to Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang, Pleiku and Buon Ma Thuot, Phu Quoc, Da Lat, Quy Nhon but also international flights to Bangkok (Thailand), Incheon (Korea), Kunming (China).
Cat Bi International Airport can receive aircraft types such as Boeing 747 with limited payload, B777-300, B777-200, A321 and similar aircraft.
By 2025, the airport will reach 2 million passengers/year, equivalent to 800 passengers per peak hour, and 20,000 tons of cargo/year.
