On the afternoon of February 22, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Binh worked with Mr. Makhtar Diop, Vice President in charge of infrastructure at the World Bank. Also attending were leaders of the Departments of Transport, Planning and Investment and the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board.
Permanent Vice Chairman Nguyen Xuan Binh expressed his pleasure to welcome Mr. Makhtar Diop to visit and work in Hai Phong city. Referring to the cooperation relationship between the World Bank (WB) and Hai Phong, the Permanent Vice President expressed thanks to the WB in recent years for actively supporting the city's economic development through loan programs and technical assistance.
Up to now, the WB has provided Hai Phong with non-refundable aid, preferential credit and loans with a total value of about 265 million USD to support the city's socio-economic development. Projects funded by the World Bank include: Water Supply Project 1A; Kien An water supply project; Drainage project 1B; Project to upgrade infrastructure of low-income residential areas in Hai Phong city; Hai Phong City Urban Transport Development Project; Hai Phong City's Livestock and Food Safety Industry Competitiveness Project (Liftsap); Project on strengthening land management and land database implemented in Hai Phong city; Project on Modernizing the Forestry Sector and Strengthening Coastal Resilience.

City leaders received the World Bank's delegation.
Mr. Makhtar Diop spoke very impressively and highly appreciated Hai Phong city in implementing projects supported by the WB, as well as the city's socio-economic development. In Mr. Makhtar Diop's opinion, Hai Phong needs to focus on projects that directly promote growth associated with sustainable development, such as transportation infrastructure projects, clean energy, and smart agricultural development; Projects with spillover effects such as climate change adaptation, improving environmental quality, education, healthcare, technology...
During the day, the World Bank delegation visited a number of projects, businesses, and production and business establishments in Hai Phong. This morning, the World Bank delegation visited the Urban Transport Development Project, VSIP Industrial Park. On the same afternoon, the delegation continued to visit Vinfast Factory and Lach Huyen HICT International Container Port.
