Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized that this is an important project for Cat Hai island district and Hai Phong city. Specifically, it will meet the current and future load needs of the region to attract investment, socio-economic and tourism development of Cat Hai district. At the same time, creating a loop circuit linking with 110kV transformer stations in the area minimizes the risk of large-scale power outages and improves the reliability of the power grid; contributing to completing the 110kV power grid structure in Cat Hai district to meet the city's electricity development planning. Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho requested investors and construction contractors to focus on arranging human resources and equipment.and finance for construction to ensure project progress; Cat Hai district and related sectors focus on supporting, implementing site clearance, and removing difficulties in project implementation.
Deputy Director of the Electricity Development Project Management Board Hoang Van Hung said that currently the power grid supplying Cat Ba island has only one 35kV line built in 1997, which is a line that crosses the sea and passes through many mountainous locations, so incidents often occur. In recent years, electricity demand on the island has increased rapidly, reaching 15.7MVA in 2020 and is expected to increase rapidly in the near future. Since then, Vietnam Electricity Group and Northern Electricity Corporation decided to invest in building 2 circuits of 110kV lines and Cat Ba 110kV transformer station, with a total investment of more than 110 billion VND. Accordingly, the 2nd circuit wire will be hung on the steel pole of the 110kV 2-circuit line in Roc-Cat Ba market (currently the 1st circuit wire is hung), with a length of more than 13.6km; New construction of 110k transformer stationV type indoor and outdoor, unmanned station model with scale of 1 transformer 25MVA phase 1 and 63 MVA phase 2; New construction of 5 35kV line feeders connected behind the transformer station with a total length of more than 9.3km. The project is invested by the Northern Power Corporation; The consulting unit is Industrial Investment Consulting and Trading Company Limited; The construction unit is Sao Vang Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company; The operating management unit is Hai Phong Electricity Company Limited.
Leaders of the Northern Power Corporation and Hai Phong Electric Company affirmed their determination to speed up the progress of construction, reception and management, and operation of the project, ensuring high efficiency, meeting the rapidly increasing electricity load demand in the Cat Ba island area in the coming time. According to the plan, the project will be completed and handed over before May 31, 2022./.
