Situation of foreign direct investment in 11 months of 2014In total, for both new grants and capital increases in the first 11 months of 2014, foreign investors registered to invest in Vietnam 17.33 billion USD, equal to 83.3% compared to the same period in 2013.
Implemented capital:
In the 11 months of 2014, it is estimated that foreign direct investment projects disbursed 11.2 billion USD, an increase of 6.2 % over the same period in 2013.
Export and import situation:
Exports of the foreign investment sector (including crude oil) in the first 11 months of 2014 reached 92.212 billion USD, up 14.1% over the same period in 2013 and accounting for 67.3% of export turnover. Exports excluding crude oil in 11 months reached 85.352 billion USD, up 15.1% over the same period in 2013.
Imports of the foreign investment sector as of November 2014 reached 76.671 billion USD, up 12.5% over the same period in 2013 and accounting for 56.8% of import turnover. In total for 11 months, the foreign investment sector had a trade surplus of 15.54 billion USD.
According to reports received, as of November 20, 2014, the whole country had 1,427 new projects granted investment certificates with a total registered capital of 13.41 billion USD, equal to 97.3% compared to the same period in 2013.
By November 20, 2014, there were 515 projects registered to increase investment capital with a total registered capital increase of 3.92 billion USD, equal to 55.7% over the same period in 2013.
In total, for both new grants and capital increases in the first 11 months of 2014, foreign investors registered to invest in Vietnam 17.33 billion USD, equal to 83.3% compared to the same period in 2013.
By investment field:
The processing and manufacturing industry is an area that attracts a lot of attention from foreign investors with 689 newly registered investment projects, the total newly and increased capital is 13.15 billion USD, accounting for 75.9% of the total registered investment capital in the first 11 months of 2014. The real estate business sector ranks second with 32 newly registered investment projects, total newly and increased investment capital. is 1.27 billion USD, accounting for 7.3% of total registered investment capital. The third ranked sector is the construction sector with a total newly registered and increased capital of 1.02 billion USD, accounting for 5.9% of the total registered capital.
According to investment partners:
From the beginning of 2014 until now, there have been 60 countries and territories with investment projects in Vietnam. Korea leads with a total newly registered investment capital and additional capital of 6.82 billion USD, accounting for 39.4% of total investment capital in Vietnam; Singapore ranked second with a total newly registered investment capital and additional capital of 2.75 billion USD, accounting for 15.9% of total investment capital; Japan ranked third with total newly registered investment capital and additional capital of 1.71 billion USD, accounting for 9.9% of total investment capital; followed by Hong Kong ranked 4th with a total newly registered and increased capital of about 1.69 billion USD, accounting for 9.8% of total investment capital in Vietnam.
By locality
In the first 11 months of 2014, foreign investors invested in 50 provinces and cities nationwide. Among them, leading foreign investment is Thai Nguyen with 3.27 billion USD of newly registered capital and additional capital, accounting for 18.9% of the country's total investment capital. Ho Chi Minh City ranked second with a total newly registered capital and additional capital of 3.01 billion USD, accounting for 17.4% of the country's total investment capital. Binh Duong ranked third with 1.42 billion USD in newly registered capital and increased capital. Next are provinces/cities such as Bac Ninh, Dong Nai, Hai Phong with newly registered and increased capital of 1.42 billion USD respectively; 1.39 billion USD and 1.03 billion USD.

– Sam Sung Thai Nguyen High-Tech Complex Project - phase 2 investor Sam Sung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. Thai Nguyen - Korea, investment project in Yen Binh I Industrial Park, Thai Nguyen province with total registered investment capital of 3 billion USD;
– Samsung CE Complex Electronics Co., Ltd. project invested by Samsung Asia Pte.Ltd - Singapore investor in Ho Chi Minh City with a total registered investment capital of 1.4 billion USD;
– SamSung Display Bac Ninh Co., Ltd. project invested by Korean investors in Bac Ninh with a total registered investment capital of 1 billion USD;
– Texhong Ngan Ha Science and Technology Co., Ltd. project invested by Hong Kong investors in Quang Ninh with a total registered investment capital of 300 million USD;
