Promoting potential advantages in the investment and business environment so that they can soon be deployed into specific projects... is the consensus of Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Vu Dai Thang and Minister of State in charge of Investment Promotion of Ivory Coast, Mr. Esmel Emmanuel Essis.
During a working session with the Ivory Coast Delegation on the afternoon of September 21, 2018 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), Deputy Minister Vu Dai Thang listened to Mr. Esmel Emmanuel Essis, Secretary of State in charge of Ivory Coast Investment Promotion, introduce the need to attract investment and the goal of developing into an industrial country of Ivory Coast. Ivory Coast is considered a gateway to penetrate West African countries with more than 300 million people and an economy that is considered to be developing dynamically; Ivory Coast's investment environment also has many advantages, with preferential policies and good support for investors.
Currently, Ivory Coast wants to cooperate with Vietnam in transferring raw cashew processing technology and building cashew processing factories in Ivory Coast. Ivory Coast also encourages Vietnamese businesses to invest in projects in the fields of light industry, processing industry, services, fisheries, telecommunications... and also promotes Ivory Coast businesses to invest in Vietnam.
Deputy Minister Vu Dai Thang commented on the above information and especially with Ivory Coast's economic development goals similar to Vietnam; can be considered one of the foundations for promoting investment relations between the two countries, through jointly implementing appropriate investment projects.
Mr. Esmel Emmanuel Essis also appreciated Vietnam's positive achievements in attracting foreign investment and asked the Ministry of Planning and Investment to share experiences in creating success. Deputy Minister Vu Dai Thang agreed that the two sides need to cooperate more closely in some specific fields, such as agriculture, infrastructure, construction... In addition, Vietnam's Investment Promotion Center and Ivory Coast's Investment and Trade Agency will promote the provision and exchange of information on investment...; Provide specific solutions to promote project implementation. Along with that, the Deputy Minister emphasized that the two sides should soon research to promote the signing of the Agreement to encourage investment protection and avoid double taxation... thereby, creating a favorable legal environment for investors.o Vietnamese - Ivory Coast enterprises in investment activities.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Vu Dai Thang and the Secretary of State in charge of Investment Promotion of Ivory Coast agreed to jointly promote activities in organizing investment seminars, mutual market survey activities... in the shortest possible time.
Currently, Ivory Coast is Vietnam's largest trading partner in the West African region. Two-way turnover in 2016 reached 820 million USD. However, investment activities between Vietnam and Ivory Coast are still at a modest level. Therefore, the working session between Deputy Minister Vu Dai Thang and the Ivory Coast's delegation is expected to help promote strong investment relations between the two countries in the coming time.
