Orsted Group (Denmark) proposed to research and survey the offshore wind power project in Hai Phong city

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho received and worked with the Delegation of the Danish Embassy.

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of November 2, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho chaired a reception and worked with the Danish Embassy's delegation led by Mr. Troels Jakobsen, Commercial Counselor, Danish Embassy in Vietnam, who came to work on the Hai Phong offshore wind power project of Orsted Group.

Attending the work were comrade Nguyen Minh Quang, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Commander of the City Military Command; Representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches and localities.

At the meeting, Mr. Troels Jakobsen, Commercial Counselor, Embassy of Denmark, thanked the city leaders for the respectful welcome, and expressed his wish that the friendly cooperation between Denmark and Hai Phong in the coming time will continue to be promoted in fields such as economics, trade, investment, education, tourism, green economic transformation...

About the Hai Phong offshore wind power project proposed for research and survey by Orsted Group with a total capacity of 3,900 MW, divided into 3 phases; The expected wind output is about 13,665,600 MWh/year; The wind turbine is expected to have an installed capacity of about 20MW, with a tower height of 150 to 200m.

The project location is in the offshore waters, 14km to the Southeast from Bach Long Vy island, 36km to the Northwest from Long Chau archipelago, 88km from Cat Ba island, 76km from Tien Lang district, 74km from Kien Thuy district, 70km from Do Son district. Total estimated investment for the entire Project is 11.9 – 13.6 billion USD.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho expressed his joy when welcoming the Danish Embassy's delegation to visit and introduce the benefits of the Hai Phong Offshore Wind Power Project for the city's socio-economic development. The project is in line with the orientation of Vietnam's National Energy Development Strategy, with the view of prioritizing the exploitation and use of renewable energy sources... Appreciating Orsted Group's capacity in the field of offshore wind power development, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho welcomed the project's investment intention in the city and affirmed that he would pay attention and create favorable conditions for investors.

To ensure feasibility in the process of implementing and researching future planning, the Vice Chairman requested investors to provide additional documents, supplement issues raised by departments and branches at the meeting, and complete documents to make the project highly feasible. The Vice Chairman requested the Group to review and clarify contents related to survey locations, appropriate spacing of wind turbines to combine and reasonably develop marine space in a scientific way, ensuring compliance with current regulations, investment phasing, not affecting maritime flows, national defense and security issues...
