(Haiphong.gov.vn) - The City People's Committee has just issued the Island Trade Development Plan in the city for the period 2021 - 2025, to implement Decision 1162 of the Prime Minister on approving the Trade Development Program in mountainous, remote and island areas for the period 2021 - 2025.

The plan is implemented in Cat Hai and Bach Long Vy districts, in order to narrow the gap between localities, support localities in the island area to actively contribute to socio-economic development, increase people's income, and ensure national security and defense in the island area.
Accordingly, the City People's Committee set out a number of key tasks, including: reviewing the implementation of the policy mechanism system on island trade development; enhance information and propaganda on trade development in mountainous and island areas; Build a model of goods purchase and sale points to serve production and consumption activities, with a focus on point-of-sale models of specialty and typical island products; Encourage and promote the development of products with potential and advantage of the locality; Research and propose the development of appropriate plans to develop trade in goods and services in island areas; Form and develop enterprises, cooperatives, and business households, encouraging the owners of the above types of organizations to be local people.to promote sustainable links between businesses and production and business establishments in the island area; develop an island trade support service system; Training and improving professional capacity for officials, businesses, and traders working in trade development...
Striving for the goal, in the period 2021 - 2025, the total retail sales of goods and services in the island area will reach an annual growth rate of 9 - 11%. Branded products and goods are typical, specialties, and potential advantages of the island region that meet the standards and quality to be included in the domestic and foreign distribution system. Contribute to building new rural areas, increasing people's income, strengthening national defense and security, social order and safety, and maintaining national sovereignty on the islands.
Also according to the viewpoint of the City People's Committee in this Plan, the commercial development of the island area must be associated with the scale and level of production and business development; Harmonious development between trade in the island region and other regions across the country. Organize business networks according to agricultural products, agricultural materials, and consumer industries in accordance with the island's socio-economic conditions. Focus on developing trade associated with handicrafts, craft villages, and producing handicrafts imbued with ethnic cultures to serve tourists and export, creating jobs for the people.
