On the morning of November 19, Chairman of the City People's Committee Duong Anh Dien received Mr. John G.Rice, Vice Chairman of GE Group to discuss the issues GE's operations and destruction plansGE's development and investment in Hai Phong in the coming time.
Chairman Duong Anh Dien said that in the current period, the city's technical infrastructure and economic scale continue to develop more and more clearly. The potential advantages of the port city are exploited, the industrial cluster system is completed, the seaport and airport systems are expanded and modernized, improving capacity and competitiveness... creating favorable conditions for investors. The Chairman affirmed that if GE Group considers expanding investment in phase 2 of the project, the city will have special incentives. The city hopes to cooperate and develop with GE, through which we can learn and exchange a lot of experience in the fields of clean technology and high technology...
Vice Chairman of GE Group highly appreciated the investment attraction environment of Hai Phong city, and the help of city leaders during the implementation of phase 1 of the project. Mr. John G.Rice shared that GE Group is currently considering investing in phase 2 of the project. The efficiency of phase 1 of the GE project in Hai Phong is on par with GE factories in the world.
Currently, GE Group's factory in Hai Phong is creating jobs for about 600 workers, however, if the investment expansion plan is implemented, this factory will increase demand to about 1,000 workers.
