(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of March 4, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho worked with the Korea Institute of Technology and Industry (KEITI) led by Mr. Kim Yoang Ki, Acting Director of the delegation to visit and work in Hai Phong.
On this occasion, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho introduced some information about the city's socio-economic development achievements and business investment environment. Hai Phong has always been one of the localities with the highest growth rate in Vietnam, with 10 consecutive years of double-digit growth. Thanks to its favorable geographical location with 5 types of transportation, Hai Phong is always in the top of the most attractive localities for foreign investors. In 2024 alone, the total foreign investment capital attraction across the city has reached 4.9 billion USD. Hai Phong international gateway port plays a particularly important role in Vietnam's seaport system, contributing to bringing imported and exported goods from the Northern region as well as the whole country directly to the European and American markets.
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho introduced some information about the city's socio-economic development achievements and business investment environment.
In the city, 14 Industrial Parks have been established, of which most of the Industrial Parks have been filled. In the coming time, the city will continue to focus on developing 20 new Industrial Parks with a total area of more than 7,000 hectares according to the approved Plan. In particular, the city has been approved by the Vietnamese Government to establish Hai Phong Southern Coastal Economic Zone with an area of about 20,000 hectares - an integrated coastal economic zone following the model of green growth, circular economy, sustainable development, including a free trade zone with breakthrough and outstanding mechanisms and policies; Connecting with other coastal economic zones, creating a driving force for development in the Red River Delta. With that development, the city's problem is:The environment, especially wastewater treatment in the inner city, in industrial zones and in tourist areas such as Cat Ba and Do Son, is urgent.
Mr. Kim Yoong Ki, Acting Director of the Korea Institute of Technology and Industry, hopes that after the visit and working in the city, cooperation between the two sides will be realized through specific projects.
Thanking for the useful information shared by the city leaders, Mr. Kim Yoong Ki, Acting Director of the Korea Institute of Technology and Industry, introduced the KEITI Institute. This is, an agency under the Korean Ministry of Environment whose mission is to promote the environmental industry and support the development of environmental technology to clean air and water, recycle and treat waste, and restore the natural environment. KEITI creates a clean and green world by disseminating environmentally friendly technology and establishing global cooperation networks so that every country can enjoy the benefits that the environment brings. In Vietnam, KEITI has had a number of cooperation activities with localities/agencies such as: Signing an environmental industry Memorandum of Understandingg with the Vietnam General Department of Environment, cooperate in implementing the Ha Tinh drainage system improvement project, discuss investment cooperation in the field of environment in Can Tho, cooperate in building the Korea - Vietnam Industrial Cluster Project in Bac Giang, etc. Through this, Mr. Kim Yoang Ki expressed his interest in cooperation in the field of drainage, urban wastewater treatment, cooperation on environmental protection, response to climate change, growth green, solid waste management is an area in which Korea in general and the KEITI Institute have experience. Mr. Kim Yoang Ki hopes that after his visit and working in the city, cooperation between the two sides will be realized through specific projects./.
