(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of May 11, at Dinh Vu Industrial Park in Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone, Hai Phong City People's Committee coordinated with Ecovance Vietnam Co., Ltd. to organize the Groundbreaking Ceremony of ECOVANCE High-tech Biodegradable Materials Factory Project of Investor Ecovance Co.Ltd.
The groundbreaking event celebrates the 69th Anniversary of Hai Phong's Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2024), Red Phoenix Flower Festival - Hai Phong 2024 and commemorative days in the historic month of May.

ECOVANCE high-tech biodegradable materials factory project of investor Ecovance Co.Ltd has a total investment of nearly 2,400 billion VND (equivalent to 100 million USD); It is expected that by 2030, the total investment capital of the Project will reach nearly 11,900 billion VND (equivalent to 500 million USD). The project's goal is to produce biodegradable plastic materials and products and related materials in the production of biological materials. The production scale of PBAT biodegradable plastic products is 70,000 tons/year; PBS biodegradable plastic products are 59,500 tons/year; THF solvent product (byproduct created during PBAT production) is 6,300 tons/year.

ECOVANCE high-tech biodegradable materials factory project is the first direct project of SK Group, Korea in Vietnam, a unit specializing in the production of secondary batteries, semiconductor materials, environmentally friendly materials, accounting for a high market share worldwide in the field of manufacturing and trading of products from biodegradable plastic materials. The project creates an important premise for the continued expansion of business investment as well as attracting supporting investors of SK Group to Hai Phong. It is the concretization of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Hai Phong city and SK Group in June 2023, and was granted an Investment Registration Certificate by the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board on September 22, 2023.

Speaking at the Groundbreaking Ceremony, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Anh Quan emphasized that today's groundbreaking event not only marks an important step forward in attracting foreign investment in the fields of high technology and environmentally friendly materials, but also affirms the position and attractive investment environment of Hai Phong city domestically and in the region.
Hai Phong City always determines that economic development must be associated with environmental protection and views this as a central and thorough task. For that reason, the city always prioritizes and focuses on attracting investment projects that use modern, environmentally friendly technology, contributing to creating a solid foundation for a green Hai Phong.
In order for the project to come into operation soon, the Permanent Vice Chairman requested the Investor to focus resources to implement the Project to ensure quality and progress as committed; comply with relevant legal regulations.
Consulting units and contractors strictly comply with construction standards and regulations; Ensuring quality, construction safety, labor safety and environmental sanitation. Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board, Dinh Vu Industrial Park Joint Stock Company (DEEP C), Hai An District People's Committee and related agencies and units coordinate, support and create the best conditions for Investors and construction contractors, ensuring safety, security and order during the construction process.
It is considered a locality with an attractive investment and business environment with a synchronous and modern technical infrastructure system of transportation and industry. On this occasion, the Permanent Vice Chairman called on foreign investors in general and SK Group and supporting businesses in particular to continue paying attention and researching investments in industrial parks and economic zones of Hai Phong city.

According to the Plan, the project will complete construction in June 2025; Test operation in July 2025 and official operation in September 2025./.
