(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of June 28, at the City Convention Center, the Central Economic Committee and the City People's Committee organized a workshop with the theme "Promoting the formation of a smart dynamic urban chain in the Red River Delta connecting the region and the world". Comrade Nguyen Duc Hien, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission and Comrade Nguyen Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee co-chaired the workshop. Attending the workshop were international experts from UN Habitat, Singapore Smart Cities Network; Representatives of leaders of provinces and cities in the Red River Delta and leading domestic and international corporations such as: CMC Group, MobiFone, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Fortinet, Signify and Dell Technologies.

Documents of the 13th Party Congress and in the Party's thematic Resolutions. Documents of the 13th National Congress clearly stated: "Building modern, civilized, smart urban areas, diverse in types, with unique architectural and cultural identities in each locality". Previously, Resolution No. 52-NQ/TW, dated September 27, 2019 of the Politburo on "Some guidelines and policies to proactively participate in the Fourth Industrial Revolution" set the goal of forming a number of smart urban chains in the key economic regions of the North, South and Central regions; Gradually connect to smart urban networks in the region and the world. Recently, on January 24, 2022, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW on "Planning and construction ofConstruction, management and sustainable development of Vietnam's urban areas to 2030, with a vision to 2045". This is the Party's first thematic resolution on urbanization and urban development. Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW also sets the goal of "Building a central smart urban network at national and regional levels with international connections and 3-5 urban areas with recognized regional and international brands by 2020." 2030”.

At the Workshop, delegates focused on sharing and clarifying the following contents: building and implementing highly connected smart urban development projects/schemes in localities; the ability to link urban areas in the region towards economic growth and sustainable development; applying geographic information systems (GIS) and digital technologies and digital platforms in sustainable urban development planning; digital infrastructure for smart cities and application of digital technologies in ensuring security, safety and urban order.
