(Haiphong.gov.vn) – The Ministry of Transport has just issued Decision No. 522/QD-BGTVT announcing the List of ports belonging to Vietnam Seaports.
Accordingly, out of a total of 296 ports belonging to Vietnam Seaports, Hai Phong city has 52 ports, including ports: Hai Phong (main port area, Hoang Dieu), Vat Cach, Dinh Vu, Petroleum 19-9, Doan Xa, Transvina, Hai Dang, Greenport, Chua Ve, Cua Cam, Fisheries II, Caltex, Nam Trieu shipbuilding industry...

In 2021, the Master Plan for Vietnam's seaport development for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, was approved. The plan focuses on developing two areas: Lach Huyen, Nam Do Son (Hai Phong) and Cai Mep (Ba Ria - Vung Tau) to become international transshipment ports. The plan identifies the goal that by 2030, Vietnam's seaport system will meet the volume of goods from more than 1.1 - 1.4 billion tons; Of which, container cargo is from 38 to 47 million TEU; passengers from 10.1 to 10.3 million passengers.
Commenting on opportunities for Vietnamese seaports in 2022, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Seaports Association - Tran Khanh Hoang said that from mid-2020 until now, the world economy has recovered strongly, and the sea transport market has also become vibrant. If at the beginning of 2020, orders for new container ships only accounted for 8.5% of the existing fleet's carrying capacity, this number now accounts for 23-24%. According to forecasts, the growing container fleet and the trend of increasing ship tonnage will be a great opportunity for Vietnam's seaports, with the focus being on the gateway ports of Cai Mep - Thi Vai (Ba Ria - Vung Tau) and Lach Huyen port (Hai Phong).
