Meeting with former experts and Vietnamese volunteers helping Cambodia

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of January 5, the City Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association organized a meeting with former experts and Vietnamese volunteers to help Cambodia on the occasion of Cambodia's National Day (January 9, 1953 - January 9, 2021) and Cambodia's Liberation Day (January 7, 1979 - January 7, 2021).

The meeting aimed to look back at the historical journey of fulfilling noble international obligations to our friend Cambodia, together with the revolutionary armed forces, the Cambodian people to overthrow the genocidal regime of Pol Pot. Contributing to that common task, experts and volunteers from Hai Phong city along with many provinces and cities nationwide have taken the lead in helping our country build and strengthen the people's government. After returning to the country, volunteer officers and soldiers continued to make contributions to the construction and development of the city.

The city's Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association is one of the earliest established friendship associations with a foreign country in the country. After 31 years of construction and growth, the Association has clearly demonstrated its role as a bridge, fostering the faithful friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia in general and between Hai Phong city and neighboring localities in particular. In 2020, the city's Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association has always proactively overcome difficulties, been creative in activities, and implemented the motto: volunteer, self-sufficient, do-it-yourself. That has been done throughout from the City Association to the localities and units of the Association, so it operates effectively.

In 2021, the city's Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association focuses on doing a good job of propaganda and extensive advocacy among the people, especially the younger generation, about the friendly relationship, close traditions and comprehensive cooperation between the people of Vietnam and Cambodia; continue to do a good job of advising and serving as a bridge of friendship between the two sister cities so that the two cities can discuss and sign practical, highly effective cooperation to help each other; overcome difficulties, proactively and creatively innovate the Association's activities to gather a large number of members and have jobs to encourage and help each other; always consolidate, build and develop the Association and its members, striving to have the remaining major localities have associations in 2021...

At the meeting, many groups and individuals with outstanding achievements received Certificates of Merit from the Central Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association and Certificates of Merit from the City Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association
