(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of May 10, Hai Phong Port held a ceremony to attach the sign to complete the construction of Piers No. 3 and 4 at Hai Phong International Gateway Port. The event celebrates major holidays in May, the 69th Anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day, the Red Poinciana Festival - Hai Phong 2024 and especially the 150th Anniversary of the formation and development of Hai Phong Port.

The project includes 02 main wharves 750m long, 01 barge wharf 150m long, a system of storage yards, roads, auxiliary works and synchronous technical infrastructure, able to receive ships with a tonnage of 8000 - 14,000 TEU, equivalent to 100,000 - 160,000 DWT, meeting a throughput of 1.1 million goods. TEU/year.
Construction started in July 2022, to date the project has completed 70% of the volume, some items including the construction of two wharves have been completed and are 3 months ahead of schedule. It is expected that the Project will be put into operation in the first quarter of 2025. The remaining construction items are also being urgently deployed with the determination to devote all efforts to complete and put into full operation in 2025.

The completed and put into use project will contribute to reducing shipping costs, thereby reducing logistics costs for businesses, increasing competitiveness for Vietnam's import and export goods, creating motivation for the development of the deep-water seaport system and logistics activities in the Northern region, and at the same time be the basis to more effectively exploit the potential, advantages and be an important lever for the city's socio-economic development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tuong Anh, member of the Board of Directors, General Director of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company emphasized that today's event is an important milestone in the development history of Hai Phong Port. After 150 years of development with existing traditional ports capable of receiving ships of a maximum tonnage of 40,000 tons, Hai Phong Port has realized the aspiration to go to the big sea, contributing to making Lach Huyen Port area a major seaport in the region and the world that can receive imported and exported goods from the Northern region straight to Europe and America.
General Director of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company affirmed that, with the tradition of a unit with a long history, being the first and main seaport of the Northern seaport system, Hai Phong Port will continue to promote proud achievements, turning traditions into specific goals and actions, worthy of being a core unit in the system of Vietnam National Shipping Lines, a driving force for economic and political development of Hai Phong city and the maritime industry./.
