Rao bridge construction investment project: Improving traffic capacity at the southern gate of the city

(Haiphong.gov.vn) – Rao Bridge spanning Lach Tray River is one of the bridges with a long history of formation in the Port city, put into operation in 1980 and completed reconstruction in 1989. Over the past 40 years, the bridge has persisted in its role, serving people's lives and making an important contribution to the overall development of the city. In recent years, the project has been deteriorating day by day, the current width of the 7m carriageway cannot meet the increasing demand for transport operations and often causes local traffic jams in the area.

Implementing the policy of the City Party Committee and the City People's Council, the People's Committee of Hai Phong city has approved the Rao Bridge construction investment project with a modern scale, with important significance in connecting the city's southern gateway with the districts of Duong Kinh, Do Son, and Kien Thuy. At the same time, it contributes to improving traffic capacity for vehicles entering and exiting the city center, increasing traffic capacity for waterway vehicles, reducing waiting time due to limited boat clearance... The project is a special-level traffic project, with a total investment of more than 2,265 billion VND. Project implementation period is from 2019 to 2022.

Once completed and put into operation, Cau Rao will bring to the city a civilized and modern gateway. Along with other bridge projects of the city such as: Hoang Van Thu bridge, Vo Nguyen Giap bridge, Binh bridge, Tan Vu - Lach Huyen sea crossing bridge..., Rao Bridge will contribute to changing the city's urban appearance towards civilization and modernity, gradually concretizing the Action Program of the Standing Committee of the Hai Phong City Party Committee to implement the goals of Resolution 45/NQ-TW of the Politburo "Building and developing the city of Hai Phong" to 2030, vision to 2045": “Building and developing Hai Phong to become the leading city in the country in the cause of industrialization and modernization;of the Northern region and the whole country; have modern, smart and sustainable industrial development; Synchronous and modern transportation infrastructure conveniently connected domestically and internationally by road, rail, sea, and air.
