Sharing information and experience in trade defense during the integration period

On the morning of November 3, at the City Convention Center, the Competition Management Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with Hai City Department of Industry and Trade Organizing room HSeminar "Trends in applying trade defense in the integration period".

In attendance were Mr. Trinh Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Competition Management Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade; Mr. Tran Huu Huynh, Chairman of the Vietnam International Arbitration Center, leader of the Department of Industry and Trade of Hai Phong city, and representatives of departments, branches, units, and business organizations in the city.

In the context that the trend of international economic integration has had a profound impact on all countries, from developed to developing, from there, the existence and development of countries is placed in a context of greater mutual dependence, clearly demonstrated through complex bilateral and multilateral relationships. Vietnam is an official member of many regional and world trade institutions. In recent years, in parallel with the liberalization trend of global trade, the application of trade defense measures (such as anti-dumping, anti-subsidy and self-defense) has also been increasing. These measures have been abused by countries as non-tariff barriers to protect their manufacturing industries. This means causing difficulties for businesses and affecting the jobs of workers in Vietnam. The workshop aims to support agencies and businesses in consolidating information, quickly adapting to the process of international economic integration and enhancing the ability to deal with trade defense lawsuits.

At the Conference, reputable speakers and researchers with extensive practical experience shared information and experiences to bring a multi-dimensional perspective on trade defense law enforcement from both the perspective of businesses and associations; lessons learned from countries around the world; From there, identify inadequacies in legal regulations to propose solutions to improve and effectively use these measures in Vietnam.
