On the afternoon of March 19, 2024, at Avani Harbor View Hotel, the Department of Transport in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) organized the Initial Report of the Project "Market survey on JICA's sustainable development goals on applying digital technology to maintenance activities and life cycle management of the bridge system in Vietnam". This is a foreign non-governmental project approved by the City People's Committee in Decision No. 3926/QD-UBND dated November 20, 2023 with a total non-refundable aid capital of 20,000,000 Japanese Yen equivalent to 3,205,000,000 VND.
The program has the participation of representatives of JICA, IHI Infrastructure Asia Co., Ltd., IHI Infrastructure System Co., Ltd., representatives of Departments and branches: Planning and Investment, Construction, Science and Technology, Information and Communications, Hai Phong Transport Construction Investment Project Management Board, Urban Development Project Management Board and Civil Construction Investment Project Management Board, representatives of Universities, Institutes of Transport, and representatives Representatives of traffic management and maintenance agencies in the city.

At the Program, JICA Organization and IHI Infrastructure System Co., Ltd. gave a general introduction presentation about the bridge maintenance management software system (BMSS), outstanding applications of the system and instructions on how to use the software. At the same time, the representative of the Center for Management and Maintenance of Public Transport and Water Registration reported the results of testing the BMSS system for 8 bridges in Hai Phong including: Nguyen Van Linh bridge, Vo Nguyen Giap bridge, Niem bridge, Binh bridge, Phu Xa bridge, Khue bridge, Kien An bridge and Lam Khe bridge. The system test results were evaluated well. The system updated the technical parameters of the bridge, diagnosed dangerous signs such as cracks in the concrete wall of the Niem bridge abutment, and then proposed appropriate repair plans.

These are the initial results within the framework of the Project so that project participants such as professional staff of departments, branches, maintenance units in the city... have an overall view of the Project and the effectiveness it brings. The project will improve maintenance and life cycle management of the bridge system through the application of digital technology in operations, contributing to the implementation of the goals set out in Resolution No. 03-NQ/TU dated October 26, 2021 of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee on digital transformation of Hai Phong city to 2025, with a vision to 2030./.
