Orsted Group (Denmark) has just proposed to Hai Phong city to study and implement the Hai Phong offshore wind power plant project. General […]
A representative of Orsted Group said that Hai Phong has great potential to become an offshore wind power center. With 30 years of experience developing, constructing and operating offshore wind farms including 7,600MW in operation, 2,300MW under construction; With 15GW operating by 2025 and 3,000 specialized employees, Orsted believes it will be capable of implementing the project in Hai Phong and hopes that Hai Phong city will allow it to conduct research and surveys in the planned offshore waters and promote project implementation work...
Previously, in October 2020, the People's Committee of Hai Phong city and ExxonMobil Group signed a memorandum of understanding on developing an integrated LNG gas power project in Hai Phong city, aiming to provide clean energy at a reasonable cost, reliable and highly efficient to meet the increasing demand in Vietnam. Exxon Mobil Group's LNG Gas Power Plant Complex project has a total investment of about 5.09 billion USD. The project uses mixed gas turbine technology divided into 2 phases: phase 1: 3x750MW, put into operation in 2026-2027; Phase 2: 3x750MW, put into operation in the period 2029-2030.
Thus, it can be seen that Hai Phong is very attractive and has great potential to become a clean energy production center in the near future. This is also one of the very important and basic factors for Hai Phong to carry out the cause of industrialization and modernization. Notably, each clean energy development project has a huge capital source, from 5-13.6 billion USD, all from large, reputable corporations with potential and experience in clean energy production in the world. Successfully implemented projects open up new potential and highly efficient production industries, effectively contributing to the rapid and breakthrough development of Hai Phong city in the coming period.
Investing in the construction of clean energy plants in Hai Phong will contribute to ensuring sufficient energy supply for the city as well as the Northern region, serving the city's goal of strong and breakthrough socio-economic development in the coming period in accordance with the spirit of Resolution 45 of the Politburo on building and developing Hai Phong city to 2030, with a vision to 2045 of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. glasses, aiming at the goal of green and sustainable development. At the same time, support is provided to the national electricity system when fossil fuel sources tend to decrease.
It is known that investors such as Orsted and ExxonMobil have come to Hai Phong many times, researched, learned and are eager to implement the project. Hai Phong city is very supportive and creates favorable conditions for investors. Recently, the city requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Government to supplement the National Electricity Development Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045, for the LNG Power Plant project and the Offshore Wind Power Plant on Bach Long Vi Island.
According to the Electricity Development Plan of Hai Phong city for the period 2016-2025, with a view to 2035 approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Decision No. 4274 dated November 14, 2018, the maximum capacity of Hai Phong city in 2020 is 1,348MW; 2025 is 2,112MW; by 2030 it will be 2,986MW and by 2035 it will be 3,989MW. Thus, compared to 2020, the city's maximum capacity demand by 2025 requires an additional 764MW; In 2030, an additional 1,638MW is needed and in 2035 an additional 2,641MW is needed. Large-scale power production projects will fully meet this need, and will create a new modern, high-tech, environmentally friendly manufacturing industry, meeting Hai Phong's sustainable development goals./.
