On September 8, within the framework of his State visit to the Russian Federation, General Secretary and President To Lam, together with his spouse and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, attended the opening ceremony of the "Vietnam - Russia Cultural Heritage and Connection Space" at the S.A. Gerasimov Russian State University of Cinematography (VGIK).
Also in attendance were Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko; First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Andrey Yatskin, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova, Rector of the S.A. Gerasimov Russian State University of Cinematography (VGIK), People's Artist of the Russian Federation Mr. Vladimir Malyshev.
Speaking at the event, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko emphasized Russian President Vladimir Putin's words that Vietnam and the Russian Federation are developing substantive and open cooperation in all fields, including culture.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko stated that it was an honor for the S.A. Gerasimov Russian State University of Cinematography to welcome the General Secretary and President to the opening ceremony of the "Vietnam - Russia Cultural Heritage and Connection Space."
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko emphasized that the "Vietnam - Russia Cultural Heritage and Connection Space" will become a symbol of friendship between the two countries, a place to connect all those who love Vietnam's unique culture, contributing to further strengthening cooperation between the two countries; he also acknowledged the efforts of all parties to make this project a success, and did not forget the generations of Vietnamese students who studied at VGIK and later became famous Vietnamese artists, directors, painters, and cinematographers, who laid the first bricks for Vietnam-Russia training cooperation in the field of culture and art.
Speaking at the event, General Secretary and President To Lam expressed that the Vietnam - Russian Federation relationship is built on a special foundation: deep political trust, loyal and pure affection, and empathy between two nations that have experienced many historical challenges. In this journey, culture, education, and art hold an extremely important position. Culture is the spiritual foundation and the endogenous driving force of bilateral relations.
Vietnam is always grateful for and cherishes the meaningful support and assistance that the former Soviet Union and present-day Russia have provided to Vietnam in training valuable human resources in the field of culture and art over the past seven decades. Among them, the S.A. Gerasimov Russian State University of Cinematography has played an important role in nurturing the inspiration for the first generations of Vietnamese directors, screenwriters, painters, and cinematographers—those who helped shape the nation's cinema.
General Secretary and President To Lam shared that Vietnam has just adopted a resolution on cultural development, which affirms that cultural and human development is the foundation, an important endogenous resource, a great driving force, and a pillar for the country's rapid and sustainable development. Cultural values must be closely and harmoniously integrated, deeply imbued throughout social life, and truly become the nation's soft power in the new era of development.
To build and develop an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity in the new era, Vietnam wishes to continue close and extensive cooperation with Russia in the fields of culture, art, and cinema. The two sides need to promote exchange activities such as organizing cultural festivals, film days, art exhibitions, and creative forums in each country; consider human resource training and connecting the younger generation as an investment in the future of the two countries' relations, creating conditions for young Vietnamese and Russian filmmakers to meet, interact early, learn together, and create together.
General Secretary and President To Lam stated that heritage truly lives only when it is continued through creation. Friendship is truly sustainable only when it is passed on through sincere, vivid, and close hearts and experiences to successive generations. This is also the best way to inherit the legacy of previous generations, to enhance the vitality of the two countries' relations, and to make cultural and humanitarian cooperation and people-to-people exchanges truly a strategic driving force for the Vietnam - Russian Federation Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the new period.
