In the first quarter of 2014, it is estimated that foreign direct investment projects disbursed 3.05 billion USD, an increase of 7% over the same period in 2014.
Export and import situation:
Exports of the foreign invested sector (including crude oil) in the first quarter of 2015 are expected to reach 25.08 billion USD, up 12.9% over the same period in 2014 and accounting for 70% of total export turnover. Imports of the foreign investment sector in the first quarter of 2015 reached 23.09 billion USD, up 24% over the same period in 2014 and accounting for 62% of total import turnover. Overall, in the first quarter of 2015, the foreign investment sector had a trade surplus of 1.98 billion USD.
According to reports received, as of March 20, 2015, the whole country had 267 new projects granted Investment Certificates with a total registered capital of 1.21 billion USD, equal to 59.4% compared to the same period in 2014. By March 20, 2015, there were 102 projects registered to increase investment capital with a total registered capital increase of 621.12 million USD, equal to 48.2% over the same period in 2014.

Real estate business ranked second with total newly registered and increased investment capital of 202.93 million USD, accounting for 11% of total investment capital. Ranked 3rd is the Wholesale and Retail repair sector with 38 new investment projects, total newly registered and increased investment capital is 123.36 million USD.
According to investment partners:
In the first quarter of 2015, there were 33 countries and territories with investment projects in Vietnam. Korea leads with a total newly registered and increased investment capital of 491.05 million USD, accounting for 26.7% of total investment capital in Vietnam. BritishVirgin Islands ranked second with total newly registered and increased investment capital of 351.59 million USD, accounting for 19.1% of total investment capital; Japan ranked third with a total newly registered and increased investment capital of 294.36 million USD, accounting for 16% of total investment capital.
By investment area:
In the first quarter of 2015, foreign investors invested in 28 provinces and cities. Ho Chi Minh City was the locality that attracted the most foreign investment capital with a total newly registered and increased investment capital of 540.24 million USD, accounting for 29.4% of the total registered investment capital. Hai Phong ranked second with a total newly registered and increased capital of 235.21 million USD, accounting for 12.8%. Binh Duong ranked third with a total newly registered and increased capital of 140 million USD.
Some major projects licensed in the first quarter of 2015 are:
– Worldon (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. project with total investment capital of 300 million USD invested by investor BritishVirginIslands in Ho Chi Minh City with the goal of producing high-end garment products.
– KMW Vietnam Co., Ltd. project has a total investment of 100 million USD by Korean investors in Ha Nam province with the goal of producing telecommunications equipment using radio and LED lighting equipment.
– Regina Miracle International Vietnam Co., Ltd. project in Hai Phong adjusted to increase investment capital to 90 million USD. This project is invested by Hong Kong investors with the goal of producing all kinds of women's bras and panties.
– Vina Nam Phu Co., Ltd. project in Ho Chi Minh City invested in the field of real estate business, by Singaporean investors in joint venture with Kien Thinh Joint Stock Company and Bi Vi Real Estate Consulting Joint Stock Company; The project is invested with a capital of 60.9 million USD.
