On July 4, 2016, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Trung had a meeting with Mr. Shigeki Maeda, Vice President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), discussing orientations and solutions to promote investment in Japan.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Trung and Mr. Shigeki Maeda, Vice President of JETRO at the reception.Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of JETRO thanked Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Trung and appreciated the active support of the Ministry of Planning and Investment in general and the Foreign Investment Agency in particular in all investment promotion activities of JETRO in Vietnam. On July 5, 2016, in Hanoi, JETRO coordinated with the Foreign Investment Department to organize a Workshop on investment promotion and business expansion with the Japanese market.
Mr. Shigeki Maeda said, JETRO operates as a trade promotion agency of the Japanese Government, currently has 74 overseas offices in 55 countries and 44 offices throughout Japan with the functions of promoting direct investment in Japan, supporting Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises to deploy investment activities abroad... In particular, the JETRO office in Hanoi welcomes the second largest number of visitors and the office in Ho City Ho Chi Minh receives the third largest number of visitors among JETRO representative offices in the world. This shows the great interest of Japanese businesses in the Vietnamese market. JETRO Vice President believes that the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) reaching a framework agreement will create favorable conditions forFavorable to attract more Japanese businesses interested in the business investment environment in Vietnam.
Appreciating the organization of the Investment Promotion Workshop, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Trung expressed his agreement with the direction of strengthening investment promotion to Japan. Vietnamese businesses are growing strongly in scale and quantity in recent years, currently there are about 450,000 businesses, striving to reach about 1 million businesses by 2020. Regarding the investment and business environment in Vietnam, the Deputy Minister said that the Vietnamese Government is continuing to promote reform, simplify administrative procedures, build a synchronous legal system, be transparent in implementation, and create the most favorable conditions for foreign businesses in general and Japanese businesses in particular in business investment activities in Vietnam./.

Vietnam has 38 investment projects in Japan with a total investment capital of 6.64 million USD, accounting for 3.5% of projects and 0.03% of the country's total investment capital abroad. |
