Deputy Minister Dang Huy Dong worked with the President of the Asia-Pacific Evaluation Association

On October 5, 2016, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Deputy Minister Dang Huy Dong had a working session with Mr. Arunaselam Rasappan, President of the Asia-Pacific Evaluation Association (APEA).

Thanking Deputy Minister Dang Huy Dong for the welcome, APEA President said that the 2030 Agenda (Agenda 2030) was approved at the United Nations Summit in September 2015, in New York, with universal, broad and comprehensive policy coverage. Mr. Arunaselam Rasappan assessed that Vietnam is one of the countries that has achieved good results in implementing the Millennium Goals (MDGs) and quickly implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To support Vietnam as well as other countries in implementing the SDGs, APEA in coordination with the Ministry of Planning and Investment is expected to organize an international conference "Sustainable Development Goals: Making a difference through assessment" in Hanoi in November 2016 with the participation ofHundreds of international delegates, including senior officials from 20 countries, politicians, policy makers, assessors, academics and NGO officials. The purpose of the Conference is to discuss current challenges related to the SDGs and provide assessments, while developing strategies and actions to support the implementation of the SDGs.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Dang Huy Dong said that to implement the 2030 Agenda, Vietnam is building a National Action Plan based on Vietnam's practical conditions, capabilities and development priorities in each stage and inheriting from the country's main and important current development strategies, policies, and plans. Thereby, the Deputy Minister agreed and affirmed that he will coordinate to successfully organize the Conference and hopes that the Conference will contribute to promoting and enhancing Vietnam's position with the international community, while strengthening cohesion and information sharing between countries./.
