The Department of Finance received a delegation from the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences

On August 13, 2024, the Department of Finance organized a working session with the Working Group of the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences led by Dr. Phi Vinh Tuong, Acting Director.  Participating in receiving and working with the Working Group were representatives of Departments and branches: Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Science and Technology, Economic Zone Management Board, Union of Science and Technology and a number of businesses in Hai Phong city. The content of the meeting was to exchange and provide information for the Working Group to conduct a survey for the research topic "Impact of FDI absorption ability on labor productivity of Vietnamese domestic enterprises". This is basic research under the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED).

Sharing at the meeting, representative of the Department of Finance, Head of Foreign Economic Relations Department, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Mai provided the delegation with some information about the city's socio-economic situation and the situation of attracting foreign investment capital in Hai Phong recently. Total foreign investment capital attraction across the city in the first 7 months of 2024 is estimated to reach 1,671.8 million USD, equal to 82.05% over the same period in 2023, reaching 83.59% of the attraction plan for 2024.

The delegation of the World Institute of Economics and Politics listened to the sharing of the Department of Finance, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Science and Technology, the Economic Zone Management Board and the Union of Science and Technology on the current situation of improving the local investment and business environment (infrastructure, industrial parks, logistics, research and development (R&D) centers), the situation of cooperation between FDI enterprises and local businesses (linkage between FDI enterprises and domestic enterprises). in many different fields, technology transfer, labor productivity...) in the area.

In addition to the opinions exchanged by Departments, committees and branches, representatives of businesses including Van Long Technical Plastics Joint Stock Company and Sivico Joint Stock Company shared their businesses' experiences in the process of connecting and changing production lines to succeed in the process of connecting and providing auxiliary products for FDI enterprises not only in Hai Phong but also in other localities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Hung Yen...

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Phi Vinh Tuong expressed his thanks to the Departments, branches, branches and businesses who supported the delegation during the field survey and hoped that the results of the research work would support many domestic businesses, including Hai Phong businesses, to find the right direction in the process of international integration to participate in the supply chain, providing auxiliary products for foreign-invested businesses.
