(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of July 16, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Thanh had a working session with Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu, the new Consul General of Vietnam in Kunming (China) for the 2019-2022 term.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Thanh informed that Hai Phong city is a highlight and regional center, with strong development in recent times. The Vice President thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its attention and assistance. From foreign relations, many economic achievements have been achieved, which is attracting many foreign investors to invest in Hai Phong city.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Thanh said that Hai Phong has a long history of relationships with Northeast Asian countries and attracts investment, creating momentum in the city's economic development. From the period 2007-2010 and 2015 until now, the city has always been among the top in attracting FDI. Currently, projects invested in Hai Phong by China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan are mainly concentrated in An Duong Industrial Park... The city has good relationships with Yunnan and Nanning provinces of China. The Vice President hopes that in the coming time, the Consul General will suggest to the Kunming government a proposal to open a round-trip flight from Lijiang - Kunming to Hai Phong.
The new Consul General of Vietnam in Kunming, Nguyen Trung Hieu, thanked the city's help to the working group to understand the situation and cooperation needs of Hai Phong city before taking on the new assignment, which will be of great help to him in the near future. Thereby, it is possible to promote friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between Hai Phong and Yunnan province, China. He shared his wish that Hai Phong city would choose a painting of the city to hang at the Vietnamese Consulate in Kunming to promote the image of Hai Phong to Vietnamese people, as well as Chinese people.
Vice President Nguyen Van Thanh hopes the new Consul General in his new position will continue to work well and continue to promote the good development relationship of Hai Phong city with Kunming in particular and Vietnam and China in general. Regarding the proposal of the new Consul General, the city will choose an outstanding painting of Hai Phong city to give as a gift on the upcoming occasion in Kunming.
