(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of July 12, at the City Convention Center, Comrade Tran Tuan Anh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Industry and Trade and Comrade Nguyen Van Tung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee co-chaired the Conference "Developing logistics services in Hai Phong - improving competitiveness and promoting regional connectivity". Also attending were comrades Le Khac Nam, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee; Pham Van Moi, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Management Board of Hai Phong Economic Zone; Bui Duc Quang, Vice Chairman of the City People's Council; Nguyen Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee and more than 300 delegates from ministries, central branches, provinces, cities and businesses nationwide.

In his opening speech at the conference, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung emphasized that in recent years, Hai Phong has been a bright spot in the country in terms of economic and social development with strong and breakthrough growth rates. Along with that, Hai Phong also fully converges the elements to develop logistics services. In particular, Resolution 45 of the Politburo on building and developing Hai Phong city to 2030, with a vision to 2045, has determined: Hai Phong is a leading city in the cause of industrialization and modernization; is the driving force for development of the Northern region and the whole country; is the key logistics service.
At the Conference, delegates presented, exchanged and discussed solutions to attract investment in logistics infrastructure development and remove difficulties and obstacles, creating motivation to improve competitiveness and connection efficiency to make Hai Phong a regional logistics hub; which focuses on the following contents: urgent issues in logistics service development in Vietnam; Operational situation, development of Hai Phong's logistics system, solutions to attract investment and remove difficulties to turn Hai Phong into a regional logistics hub; Developing Hai Phong logistics services as a driving force for regional economic development; Hai Phong's role in regional connectivity and supporting localities in logistics; improve logistics efficiency, promote kConnect with shippers; Developing port and shipping services, expanding logistics services...
Speaking at the Conference, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh affirmed that Hai Phong is the driving force and locomotive in the economic development of the North. With the largest flow of import and export goods in the North, the city has many favorable factors to become an important national logistics service center. Hai Phong international gateway port with modern loading and unloading equipment put into operation, along with synchronous transportation infrastructure, suitable for international trade transport methods, Hai Phong will become an important base in the chain of links and development of global logistics services. The conference helps Hai Phong evaluate and properly perceive the role of logistics services in the city's socio-economic development, in order to promote its benefits.Hai Phong's strategic position, enhancing the role of logistics services in the socio-economic development structure, strengthening connections, supporting localities and businesses and creating regional spillovers.
