(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of February 29, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong received the Training Ship Fleet of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force on a courtesy visit to Hai Phong city led by the ship's Commander, Commander of Training Ship No. 1 Yanagihara Makoto. Welcoming the Training Ship Fleet of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force to Hai Phong city, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong briefly introduced information about the city: Hai Phong currently ranks 3rd in the country, is the gateway to the sea of Northern Vietnam, with strengths in seaports and logistics, with a favorable geographical location, Hai Phong has all 5 types of transportation (road, air, sea, railway and inland waterway) contributing promote the city's industrial development.

In Hai Phong city, there are currently more than 800 FDI foreign investment projects, and among the 42 countries investing in Hai Phong, Japan is ranked 3rd in the number of FDI projects with 144 projects and 2nd in FDI capital with 4.1 billion USD. The city highly appreciates Japanese investment projects because of their high technology, environmental safety, and strict compliance with city regulations. In addition, the Japanese government has supported the city with many ODA projects and JICA projects. Currently, the city has cooperative relationships with 6 Japanese localities, of which Hai Phong has established a sister relationship with Kitakyushu city since 2014.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong said that in the context of the two countries upgrading comprehensive strategic cooperation for prosperity in Asia and the world, the visit of the Chinese Fleet in Hai Phong city is an important milestone, contributing to strengthening the relationship between the two countries in general and between the two countries' navies in particular.

Thanking the leaders and major agencies and departments of the city for taking the time to welcome the ship's delegation, Colonel Yanagihara Makoto expressed his joy that the cooperative relationship in fields such as defense, economics and trade between Hai Phong and Japan has developed in recent years. The colonel hopes to increase his understanding of Vietnam and further tighten the relationship between the two countries, thereby understanding more about the regional situation and the importance of defense cooperation. He also expressed his desire for the relationship between the Vietnam People's Army and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force to increasingly develop.
