Reporting at the meeting, on behalf of the Party Committee of the City People's Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung said that in May and the first 5 months of 2019, the city's socio-economic situation continued to stabilize and develop, achieving impressive results in many fields. Many major socio-economic indicators maintain high growth over the same period such as: the index of industrial production (IIP) in May 2019 is estimated to increase by 24.21% compared to May 2018, the first 5 months of the year increased by 23.06% over the same period; The total number of tourists coming to Hai Phong in May is estimated at 757.9 thousand arrivals, an increase of 15.25% over the same period, in 5 months it is estimated at 3,068.4 thousand arrivals, an increase of 10.6%; State budget revenue in the area in May is estimated at 6,869.5 billion VND, of which1,909 billion VND, 5 months estimated at 35,541.1 billion VND, up 36.9% over the same period.

The city organizes rich, diverse, and imbued with cultural identity activities to celebrate major holidays in May, especially successfully organizing the 2019 Red Phoenix Flower Festival - Hai Phong in association with the 64th anniversary of Hai Phong's Liberation Day, creating a joyful, excited, and proud atmosphere among all classes of people and promoting the image of an attractive, dynamic, and breakthroughly developed city of Hai Phong to friends. and domestic and foreign tourists. Inauguration of the Tam Bac River Beautification Project, Nguyen Van Linh intersection, Traditional Medicine Hospital, Neonatal Center of Hai Phong Obstetrics Hospital. Commencement of the Hoa River Bridge Construction Investment Project; building the Ho Sen - Cau Rao 2 trunk road; apartment complexes and servicesCommercial services at Lot B - Lach Tray Riverfront Urban Area Project, Vinh Niem Ward, Le Chan District; Construction of Haphofood high-tech fruit and vegetable processing factory. Along with that, the work of supporting cement, sidewalk tiles, lighting and trees to renovate and upgrade degraded sidewalks, roads and alleys in the districts has achieved many positive results.

However, the implementation of the City People's Council's Resolution on mechanisms and policies to support the construction and repair of houses for households of people with meritorious services to the revolution who have housing difficulties is still slow; Site clearance work to serve some investment projects has not met the requirements; Educational management is still limited, and incidents of beating students have occurred, causing anger in public opinion; African swine fever continues to develop complicatedly.

Speaking at the conclusion of the meeting, City Party Secretary Le Van Thanh noted the city's achievements in May and the first 5 months of the year with many targets achieving high growth; successfully organized the Red Poinciana Festival - Hai Phong 2019, along with the inauguration and commencement of many large works and projects. The results achieved in many fields have received people's approval, support, and trust in the leadership and direction of the city.

Regarding the upcoming tasks, the Secretary of the City Party Committee requested that all levels and sectors need to focus highly on accelerating progress and be more drastic in implementing Resolution No. 32 of the City People's Council on mechanisms and policies to support the construction and repair of houses for households of people with meritorious services to the revolution who have housing difficulties in the city. The City People's Committee directs all levels, branches and units to review the socio-economic targets set by the 15th City Party Congress. Any targets that have not been completed or are at risk of not being completed should be reported at meetings of the City Party Committee's Standing Committee for leadership and direction, especially social targets.
