The event was held to celebrate the 71st anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2026) - a sacred historical milestone of the heroic port city. At the same time, this is also the first year the Festival takes place in the space of the newly merged Hai Phong - a Hai Phong that is larger in scale, stronger in internal strength and increasingly asserts its position in the region and internationally.
The Red Poinciana Festival - Hai Phong 2026 is an important cultural and political event, celebrating major holidays of the country and the city in April and May, especially the anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day. With the theme “Hai Phong – Convergence – Shine”, this year's program is built as a thorough artistic journey, recreating the city's development process from historical depth to aspirations to reach the future. "Convergence" is not only the intersection of culture and history, but also the crystallization of human values and modern development resources, creating a new appearance of Hai Phong - wider in space, deeper in identity and stronger in growth motivation. On that basis,"Shine" is an inevitable development step - symbolizing the desire to rise and affirm Hai Phong's position on the regional and international map in the era of integration.
The festival is also an opportunity to honor and continue the traditions of a Heroic City, a civilized Eastern Land - a place where historical depth, resilient bravery and a spirit of studiousness and respect are crystallized. From that source, the values of "Central Courage - Determined to Win" continue to be fostered and spread, becoming a driving force to arouse the spirit of solidarity, nurture the desire to contribute, and forge the will to innovate, be creative, and dare to think and do of generations of Hai Phong people in today's development journey.
Through diverse activities, the Festival contributes to affirming outstanding achievements in the process of construction and development of the new Hai Phong city; creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere, encouraging the entire Party Committee, government, army and people of the city to be determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress and the Resolution of the first City Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030.
From a traditional cultural activity, the Red Poinciana Festival today has become a spiritual symbol of the city - a "big stage" for Hai Phong to introduce itself to the whole country and the world; a "convergence point" of people, culture and development aspirations; At the same time, it is a "media push" with strong pervasiveness, contributing to shaping the image of a dynamic, modern and integrated Hai Phong.
The program is expected to be attended by a large number of domestic and international delegates, including local leadership delegations, international organizations, diplomatic agencies and art troupes from many countries, demonstrating the pervasiveness and increasing prestige of the Red Poinciana Festival.
The stage is staged in a large outdoor model with dimensions of about 70m × 50m × 20m, combining a modern LED screen, sound and lighting system; Open design, creating spatial depth and strong visual effects. The program ends with a high-level artistic fireworks performance - creating an emotional climax and explosive images.
The program was broadcast live on VTV1 channel and THP channel of Hai Phong Newspaper and Radio and Television, and broadcast on digital platforms, creating widespread media coverage.
III. CONTENT OF THE ART PROGRAM "Hai Phong - Convergence - Shine"
The art program "Hai Phong - Convergence - Shine" is the central highlight of the Festival, elaborately staged on a large scale, combining performing arts and modern performance technology. The entire program is built as a seamless artistic flow, connecting the heroic past, dynamic present and aspirations to reach the future of the Port city. The stage space is not just a performance place, but becomes a "visual and audio manifesto", depicting Hai Phong's development journey in the new period.
The program includes 3 continuous chapters:
Chapter I: "Hai Phong - An epic poem at the head of the wave"
The program opens with an epic art space, recreating important historical milestones that form the identity of the estuary land. From the image of Female General Le Chan founding An Bien - laying the foundation for a resilient community - the flow of history continued through resounding victories on the Bach Dang River, associated with the names of Ngo Quyen, Le Hoan, and Tran Hung Dao. Those victories are not only a source of national pride but also a symbol of the will to independence, self-reliance and tenacious spirit of the Vietnamese people.
