On the morning of May 6, 2025, the Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) announced the provincial competitiveness index (PCI) for 2024.
According to the announced results, Hai Phong city achieved 74.84 points, ranked 1/63 in provinces and cities, an increase of 4.5 points and an increase of 2 rankings compared to 2023. This is the first year that Hai Phong city has risen to first place in the PCI rankings, the 4th year in the Top 3. It is also the 7th year in the Top 10 leading provinces and cities in the country.
Of the 10 PCI component indexes, the city has 07 index increase points and 03 index decrease points, specifically as follows:
* There are 07 indexes increasing compared to 2023:
+ Market entry: 8.72 points, up 1.58 points;
+ Land access: 7.34 points, up 0.74 points;
+ Transparency: 6.34 points, up 0.22 points;
+ Unofficial costs: 7.67 points, an increase of 0.66 points;
+ Fair competition: 6.92 points, up 0.33 points;
+ Dynamism and pioneering of provincial leaders: 7.39 points, an increase of 0.59 points;
+ Legal institutions and security and order: 8.2 points, an increase of 1.06 points.
* There are 03 index points decreasing compared to 2023:
+ Time cost: 8.18 points, down 0.14 points;
+ Business support policy: 7.31 points, down 0.09 points;
+ Labor training: 7.2 points, down 0.19 points.
Compared with the goal of Plan No. 197/KH-UBND dated August 22, 2024 on improving the competitiveness index (PCI) in 2024-2025 of Hai Phong city, the city has achieved the plan in both ranking position and score (according to the Plan: ranked in the Top 10 leading provinces and cities in the country, reaching over 71 points)./.
