From April 20-22, 2016, in Da Nang city, the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) organized the training course "Investment guidelines for green growth in Vietnam". This is one of the activities implemented within the framework of the Cooperation Program between Vietnam and GGGI.
The content of the training course is to increase awareness of investment for green growth, introduce a number of tools to integrate investment for green growth into socio-economic development plans and incorporate green growth factors into the appraisal process of investment projects, contributing to the implementation of the National Strategy on Green Growth and green growth action plans at localities.
The participants in the training course are officials directly involved in appraising public investment projects or creating green growth action plans and synthesizing socio-economic development plans; Members of the target group pilot the tools outlined in the Investment Guide and are responsible for providing feedback on the applicability of the Investment Guide for TTX in practice.
Delegates attending this training course come from the Central provinces (Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue, Da Nang city, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Kon Tum). Previously, a similar training course was held in Ninh Binh for officials from the Northern provinces and is expected to be held in Ho Chi Minh City in the middle of this year for the Southern provinces.
GGGI, headquartered in Seoul, Korea, is an intergovernmental organization established to support and promote green growth globally. GGGI partners with countries to support stronger, more efficient economic growth, especially the sustainable use of natural resources, carbon reduction and better response to climate change. GGGI cooperates with countries around the world, helping to build capacity and develop green growth policies, policies that are relevant to the lives of millions of people around the world.
Vietnam is one of the founding member countries of GGGI. Present in Vietnam since 2012, GGGI has been implementing many activities and programs to contribute to promoting Green Growth in 3 areas: Developing Green Growth Plans and mobilizing investment capital for Green Growth (Ministry of Planning and Investment), Green Growth Urban (Ministry of Construction) and sustainable water use in the Mekong Delta (Mekong River Commission).
In 2016, the Ministry of Planning and Investment and GGGI will approve the National Planning Framework (CPF) for the period 2016-2020. CPF provides an outline for areas of cooperation between Vietnam and GGGI as well as other development partners. In addition to the areas of cooperation in green growth urban areas and finance for green growth, in the next 5 years GGGI will expand technical consulting support for new fields such as green energy and renewable energy./.
