Hai Phong People's Committee this morning held a press conference to inform about the organization of the Red Poinciana Festival - Hai Phong 2016, opening a series of major events taking place in May 2016 in Hai Phong city.
Accordingly, along with the opening program of the 5th Red Poinciana Festival on May 6, from May 6 to May 12, many major events and activities took place in the city such as: Groundbreaking ceremony of the 1.5 billion USD project of LG Displays (Korea) in Trang Due industrial park; Groundbreaking ceremony of Hon Dau luxury tourist and resort project invested by Him Lam Joint Stock Company in Hon Dau island area, Do Son district with total investment capital of about 5,000 billion VND; Groundbreaking ceremony of Component B - Hai Phong International Gateway Port investment and construction project in Cat Hai town, Cat Hai district. Cat Bi airport's airport area, phase 1 of the Cat Bi International Airport upgrade project, will also be inaugurated on this occasion.
Previously, the Red Phoenix Flower Festival - Hai Phong 2016 took place for 3 days, from May 6 to May 8, in the City Theater Square area and the central strip of Hai Phong city. In particular, the opening night art program of the Festival with the theme "Hai Phong - Connecting the arms of friends" was held at 8:00 p.m. on May 6 at the City Theater Square and was broadcast live on VTV1 channel of Vietnam Television.
The opening art program of the Festival includes 2 main contents. In particular, the ceremony includes the opening program of the red flower festival and receiving the decision to recognize the National Intangible Cultural Heritage - Female General Le Chan Festival, along with the ranking certificate of National Architectural and Artistic Monument - City Theater. The festival part of the program includes art performances and street parades with promotional models, introducing historical traditions, famous landmarks, and socio-economic development achievements of Hai Phong.

In addition to the main festival, there will be about 70 other events taking place on the sidelines of the festival. Among them, there are a number of major activities such as: art exhibitions, orchid displays, street music performances, Hai Phong friendship golf tournament, Cheo yard communal house folk performance festival in the Greater Red River Delta region...
“With the theme – Connecting the arms of friends, art performances and parades will express the spirit and position of the land and people of Hai Phong, showing that Hai Phong is ready to integrate with the world, and is an attractive destination for tourists and investors.” Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong People's Committee affirmed.
