(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of June 29, Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board coordinated with the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the British Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Sao Do Investment Group Joint Stock Company to organize a seminar and investment promotion "Renewable energy in sustainable industrial parks". Comrade Le Trung Kien, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board chaired the workshop. Attending the Conference were Mr. Harry Rawicz-Szczerbo - Head of Trade and Investment, Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; Mr. Mark Shorrock, Chairman of Shire Oak International Group; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, CEO of Sao Do Investment Group Joint Stock Company and representativescity departments, divisions and branches; investors, businesses operating industrial park infrastructure (IPs) in the city.

Conference view
Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Le Trung Kien, Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board, affirmed that developing renewable energy is an inevitable trend and a mandatory requirement of the current energy industry in Vietnam as well as around the world. The recent United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26), to which Vietnam is strongly committed, also determined the goal of achieving net emissions (the amount of toxic emissions released into the environment) of zero by the middle of this century.

According to Resolution 45 of the Politburo, Hai Phong city is determined to become the leading city in the country in the cause of industrialization and modernization; have modern, smart and sustainable industrial development. With an area of 22,540 hectares, Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone with a total of hectares is determined to be a multi-industry, multi-sector marine economic center of the Northern coastal region and the whole country, with outstanding preferential mechanisms and policies that have become the destination of many domestic and foreign investors.
Currently, with 13 industrial parks in operation, the city has attracted 633 projects, with a total investment capital of approximately 34.6 billion USD. Cumulatively to date, industrial parks and economic zones have attracted 438 foreign direct investment projects with a total investment capital of 22.07 billion USD; attracting 195 domestic investment projects with a total investment capital of 12.57 billion USD. The non-tariff zone and Nam Dinh Vu I Industrial Park alone have attracted 48 projects with a total investment capital of 1.8 billion USD (including 19 FDI projects with a total investment capital of 430.25 million USD and 29 DI projects with a total investment capital of 31,927.69 billion VND).
In the period 2021-2025, it is expected to establish 10-12 new industrial parks with an area of nearly 6,000 hectares; Expected to attract 12-15 billion VND.


Conference delegates
In the first 6 months of 2022, the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board has continuously made efforts to improve the business investment environment, reform administrative procedures, flexibly and effectively implement investment promotion programs (successfully organizing investment promotion conferences with Korean businesses, investment promotion conferences with French businesses and dialogue conferences, meeting with potential investors interested in the city's investment environment). With the city's orientation to attract investment in key industries (electronics industry, high technology, automobile industry; construction; environmentally friendly industry, renewable energy industry...), the city's energy demand is very large, a mandatory factor to createfoundation for city development, especially in industrial development.

At the Conference, we witnessed the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between three parties: Shire Oak International Group, Sao Do Investment Group Joint Stock Company, Nam Dinh Vu Electricity Trading Joint Stock Company (NDVESCO) in investing in renewable energy in Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park; Commitment to green development orientation in Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park between Sao Do Investment Group Joint Stock Company and investors in the Industrial Park.
The workshop opened a sustainable future for Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park in particular and Hai Phong city in general in terms of deploying the use of renewable energy in industrial parks, bringing many benefits in the process of operation and production and business activities such as: Reducing electricity consumption, reducing the amount of CO2 emitted into the environment, taking advantage of environmentally friendly renewable energy sources and saving costs in the production process. At the same time, it is also an opportunity to promote and attract investors, especially projects in the field of renewable energy and projects using environmentally friendly energy sources.
