Conference and Training on Investment Promotion knowledge for localities in the Northern region

On the morning of October 10, 2023, the Foreign Investment Department, Ministry of Planning and Investment organized a Conference and Training on Investment Promotion knowledge for localities in the Northern region. The conference was chaired by Mr. Do Nhat Hoang, Director of the Foreign Investment Department, and in attendance were representatives of a number of Departments and Departments under the Ministry of Planning and Investment and leaders of the Departments of Finance, Industrial Park and Economic Zone Management Boards, and Investment Promotion Centers of 30 northern localities.

In his opening speech at the Conference, Director General Do Nhat Hoang gave an overview of foreign investment, especially in the past 5 years, which noted positive results in attracting FDI in some localities such as Bac Giang, Hanoi, Binh Duong, Hai Phong. Specifically, in the first 9 months of 2023, the total registered FDI capital in the country is 20,207 million USD, an increase of 7.7% over the same period in 2022. Foreign investment attraction in Hai Phong city reached 3,055.58 million USD, an increase of 140.3% over the same period and reaching 152.78% of the 2023 plan. In addition to the achievements, the Director of the Department of Investment Foreign investment also raises opportunities and challenges for Vietnam's attraction of foreign investment such as the impact of global minimum tax, preparations to welcome investment capital flows.new or changes in the supply chain, shifting global production.

In the discussion and exchange, representatives of localities shared about the situation of attracting and promoting foreign investment in their localities as well as asked some questions about administrative procedures for investment, problems with some policies and coordination in state management of foreign investment.

In the afternoon of the same day, the Foreign Investment Department organized an investment promotion training program. At the Program, the Representative of the National Innovation Center gave a presentation on the topic of promoting investment attraction in the field of innovation. Next was a presentation by the representative of the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs on the new contents in Decree No. 70/2023/ND-CP dated September 18, 2023 amending Decree 152/2020/ND-CP regulating foreign workers working in Vietnam and recruiting and managing Vietnamese workers working for foreign organizations and individuals in Vietnam.
