(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of May 14, the City People's Committee solemnly held the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Project of a complex of commercial centers, entertainment centers, 5-star hotels and offices for rent to carry out urban beautification in the Iron Market area, Phan Boi Chau ward, Hong Bang district. This is one of the key projects of Hai Phong in 2022. When completed, it will make an effective and important contribution to Hai Phong realizing its goal of becoming a major trade, tourism and service center of the country.

Speaking at the Groundbreaking Ceremony, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Anh Quan said that right here is the Iron market, because it was built with iron and steel, so it is called Sat market, formed in the 19th century, this place is also called the "concession" neighborhood, or "big market". This place is the convergence of rivers, very convenient for transporting goods by boat to trade with other economic centers in Vietnam and other countries, so Sat market is very busy, on par with Dong Xuan market and Ben Thanh market.
During the subsidy period, the Iron market was still a prosperous trading place, one of the largest trading centers in the North, and the traders in the Iron market were wealthy and successful people. Therefore, Iron Market has become the pride and pride of the people of Port land. After the market fire incident in 1985, along with the innovation and opening up of the country, Hai Phong city entered into a joint venture with foreign investors to rebuild the Iron Market as it is today and put it into use since 1994.
After many years of operation, the Iron Market has deteriorated. In order to beautify the urban area and create a new look for this area, the city has organized a bidding to select investors to build a modern commercial center.
The Permanent Vice Chairman emphasized that the project of a complex of commercial centers, entertainment centers, 5-star hotels and offices for rent with a total investment of more than 6,000 billion VND, construction scale of 2 40-storey towers, along with the architectural idea of "the convergence of rivers", the project will continue to be the pride and pride of the people of the Port. The project will be one of the architectural highlights, contributing to building a civilized and modern city of Hai Phong, to gradually turn Hai Phong into "a city on par with regional and international cities".
The Permanent Vice President requested the Investor and Construction Contractors to focus on human and material resources to build the project, ensuring that it is ahead of schedule, technical and aesthetic, especially ensuring absolute labor safety.
