(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of January 8, the City Union of Friendship Organizations organized a conference to summarize people-to-people foreign affairs work in 2019, deploying tasks for 2020. Comrade Nguyen Thi Nghia, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation, President of the City Union of Friendship Organizations chaired the conference.
In 2019, the Union actively deployed highly effectively and comprehensively completed the tasks set out in all aspects of work, consolidating and developing a strong organization, creating position and strength to undertake tasks in the coming time. The Union focuses on implementing people-to-people, peace, solidarity and friendship foreign affairs activities in the city with many new, practical and highly effective features, strengthening people-to-people friendship relationships, expanding activities with many partners, diversifying audiences, connecting people-to-people foreign propaganda activities and raising awareness for officials, people working in foreign affairs and the people of the city. The activities of member associations have had many positive changes. TypicalSuch as the Vietnam - Laos, Vietnam - Cambodia, Vietnam - Bulgaria, Vietnam - Russia, Vietnam - Netherlands, Vietnam - France Friendship Association, which has activities to celebrate, meet, exchange, expand bilateral relationships with foreign countries and connect and strengthen organizations and members... Many branches of member organizations initially gather, mobilize people, and improve understanding of people-to-people foreign affairs activities at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the conclusion of the Conference, comrade Nguyen Thi Nghia, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, acknowledged that people's foreign affairs work has made an important contribution to the implementation of political tasks and socio-economic development of the city. However, people's foreign affairs activities are not commensurate with the city's position and requirements for rapid and strong development, the activities of member organizations are uneven, and the promotion of calling for non-governmental aid is still limited...
Regarding the tasks in 2020, the Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee requested the Union and member organizations to coordinate closely with city departments, branches and branches to thoroughly implement Directive No. 38-CT/TW of the Secretariat on continuing to innovate and improve the operational efficiency of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations; continue to implement friendly and cooperative activities with major countries, strategic partners and traditional friends; Well organize people's foreign affairs activities on the occasion of the city's major events and the anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations with other countries. At the same time, consolidate and promote people-to-people cooperative relationships with sister cities; innovate and diversify the organization of foreign affairs activitieslocal people, connecting foreign communities, foreign businesses, and international organizations.

The Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee proposed that the City Union of Friendship Organizations continue to take advantage of the Central Government's help, innovating methods of promoting foreign non-governmental aid mobilization; Focus on doing a good job of foreign information and propaganda, diversifying types of information, focusing on the young generation in the country and international friends; renewing information content, propaganda, promoting the image of the country and the city, enlisting the support of international partners, friends, sister localities, strengthening understanding of the situation, forecasting, and highly effective fight against false information and distortions of hostile forces, accessing dialogue at international people's forums...
On this occasion, the City Union of Friendship Organizations awarded Certificates of Merit to 29 collectives and 40 individuals who made positive contributions to the Union's activities in 2019.
