City businesses proactively notify the Department of Industry and Trade of problems related to chili export activities

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - Regarding the export of chili to the Chinese market, according to information exchanged by the Department of Import and Export (Ministry of Industry and Trade), on April 1, the Ministry of Industry and Trade received an image of a "document" from Shenzhen Customs (China) announcing the ban on importing Vietnamese chili from April 1 under the direction of the General Department of Customs of China.

Regarding this issue, immediately after receiving the above "text" image, the Trade Office of the Vietnam Embassy in China urgently worked and verified the information with the General Department of Customs of China (Import-Export Food Safety Department). Accordingly, the Import-Export Food Safety Department confirmed that the "text" image mentioned above is fake, not issued by the General Department of Customs of China. In addition, the content in the "text" image above has many errors in format and language, preliminary assessment shows signs of image editing.

Meanwhile, Vietnam's chili export activities to the Chinese market from May 2020 are also facing problems with testing and quarantine. According to assigned functions and tasks, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is currently presiding over working with the Chinese side to agree on a plan to remove the above-mentioned problems in order to return Vietnamese chili exports to the Chinese market to normal.

Faced with the above situation, the Department of Industry and Trade notifies and requests agencies and units to advise businesses within the scope of responsibility to understand the situation, and proactively inform the Department of Industry and Trade when problems arise to coordinate and promptly handle them.
