(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the afternoon of September 16, at the City Convention Center, comrade Nguyen Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, attended the Vietnam 2021 agricultural argument transformation forum online with the theme: "Catch up with market trends, promote the supporting role of the economy in the context of the pandemic and post-COVID-19 pandemic" on the platform VnExpress is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with VnExpress Electronic Newspaper and the Vietnam Digital Agriculture Association (VIDA).

Recently, in the context of climate change and the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam's agricultural sector continues to affirm its role as a "pillar of the economy", through firmly ensuring national food security in all situations, creating livelihoods, jobs and stable income for rural people. Thereby, making an important contribution to maintaining political and social stability and developing the country.
Many localities have paid attention and proactively applied digital solutions in agricultural production and rural management; More and more units have accessed and used digital technology in farming, animal husbandry, aquaculture, forestry... A number of large enterprises have applied high technology and information technology to manage production, distribution and consumption of products. "National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, orientation to 2030" was issued by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 749/QD-TTg dated July 3, 2020, clearly stating that agriculture is one of the industries and fields that need to prioritize digital transformation first. Facing increasing market demands, Vietnamese agriculture must have adaptability and high competitiveness. The COVID-19 pandemic has also proven that introducing smart technology into agriculture helps ensure stability and smoothness, while also helping economic development after the pandemic.
At the forum, after the speech of VIDA President, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Information and Communications, delegates attended the opening of the AGRIEXPO 2021 International exhibition directly at the virtual stage. Next were speeches from representatives of the Department of Economic Synthesis, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, senior agricultural finance consultant of the international financial group - World Bank, Business Director of CropX Company, representative of the Ministry of Natural Agriculture and Food Quality of the Netherlands, Director of Digital Agriculture Department in Asia Pacific, Bayer Corporation; Digital Transformation Steering Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; Deputy Director of the Import-Export Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade; Vice President of the American Chamber of Commercein Vietnam, representative of the Australian Business Association in Vietnam; representative of Loc Troi Group... on topics such as: Trends, global market needs, policy directions, promotion areas for local Vietnamese agricultural products; summarize the content of topics on perfecting the ecosystem for Vietnam's agricultural transformation and developing human resources to meet the needs of digitalization of Vietnam's agriculture; digital transformation of agriculture and application of science and technology in agriculture in Israel, the Netherlands, and Japan; Orienting the agricultural digital transformation scenario until 2035...
The forum has truly become a place for public-private policy dialogue activities between the Government, the private sector and relevant parties, to discuss key and strategic issues to help Vietnamese agriculture develop in the context of rapid and unpredictable changes in the region and the world, especially under the impact of the global pandemic. Thereby, suggesting research and proposing breakthrough solutions to promote the digital transformation process of Vietnamese agriculture, so that Vietnamese agricultural products can successfully access potential markets around the world.
