President Nguyen Van Tung presented a souvenir to Singapore's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam.
(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the afternoon of September 22, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung received a courtesy call on Ms. Catherine Wong Siow Ping, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Singapore to Vietnam. Also attending were representatives of leaders of departments, branches and functional units of the city.
At the reception, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung expressed his joy and thanked the Ambassador for visiting and working in Hai Phong city. Appreciating the effective cooperative relationship between Hai Phong and Singapore in many fields over the past time, the Chairman affirmed that Hai Phong always accompanies, supports and creates the most favorable conditions for investors from Singapore.
Chairman Nguyen Van Tung said that currently the city is focusing heavily on organizing the 16th City Party Congress, which is also an opportunity to reassess the city's socio-economic development in the past 5 years.
The Chairman emphasized that the socio-economic development achievements that Hai Phong has achieved in recent times have been largely contributed by international partners who have always trusted and invested in the city. In the coming time, Hai Phong will focus on building a number of new industrial zones and clusters, continue to synchronously improve the transportation infrastructure system, drastically direct functional branches to speed up the resolution of administrative procedures... these will be favorable conditions for investors to come to Hai Phong, including Singaporean investors.
President Nguyen Van Tung hopes that in his position, Ambassador Catherine Wong Siow Ping will continue to develop the friendly relationship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries Singapore - Vietnam in general, and Hai Phong city in particular, to increasingly develop, achieving many good results, especially in the field of shipping and logistics services; seaport management, urban development, healthcare, education... In particular, in the context that Hai Phong is currently making efforts to focus on investing and perfecting the infrastructure of two key tourist destinations, Cat Ba and Do Son, the Chairman wants the Ambassador to pay attention and connect with the opening of flights from Cat Bi International Airport to Singapore.
Thanking the leaders of Hai Phong city for the respectful welcome, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Singapore to Vietnam expressed his impression of the infrastructure development and comprehensive development of Hai Phong city in recent times. The Ambassador believes that with a synchronous, modern transportation system and clear directions, Hai Phong will be an attractive destination for foreign investors, including Singaporean investors.
Ms. Catherine Wong Siow Ping affirmed that in her position as Ambassador, she will make efforts to promote the development cooperation relationship between Hai Phong city and Singapore, and at the same time provide information for Singaporean investors to actively explore investment opportunities in Hai Phong.

In Hai Phong city, there are currently 40 projects invested by Singapore, with a total registered investment of more than 972 million USD, most of the projects focus on the field of services, industrial production, infrastructure investment - real estate business... Singapore is also one of Hai Phong's potential markets in the Asean region and one of the export markets with Hai Phong's highest turnover in Southeast Asia.
