(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of September 28, Comrade Le Van Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Council received a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the United States of America in Vietnam led by Mr. Daniel J.Kritenbrink - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Vietnam on a working visit to Hai Phong.
Also attending the reception were comrade Nguyen Van Tung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee and leaders of relevant departments and agencies.

At the reception, City Party Secretary Le Van Thanh expressed his thanks and respectfully welcomed the Ambassador to visit and work in Hai Phong, appreciating the role of Ambassador connecting Vietnam - the United States as well as Hai Phong city and the United States. The Secretary of the City Party Committee said that Hai Phong is currently one of the localities with the strongest economic development in the current period with an average growth rate of 14.2%/year; attracting large FDI investment... however, US direct investment in Hai Phong is still on a small scale. The Secretary of the City Party Committee hopes that after this visit, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Vietnam will be interested in connecting and introducing US investors and businesses with strong potential.invest in Hai Phong, and at the same time support and help Hai Phong in developing health, education...

Mr. Daniel J.Kritenbrink - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Vietnam expressed his thanks for the warm welcome of the city's leaders and said that this was the Ambassador's first meeting and working session with the city's leaders, so the mood was very emotional and excited. The Ambassador emphasized that the trip took place on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States. It is also an opportunity to look back on the achievements between the two countries, and continue to have strong trust and expectations in the future of the promising bilateral relationship, wishing to become a trusted partner and friend who can help support Vietnam to become a strong and prosperous country.
The Ambassador expressed his impression of the city's economic growth rate and congratulated Hai Phong on recently controlling the COVID-19 epidemic very well and being the only centrally run city with no COVID-19 cases.
The Ambassador hoped that city leaders would pay attention and support ExxonMobil Group's Hai Phong LNG-Power Complex Project with an investment value of about 5.1 billion USD, and requested the city to soon send a document to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to support the inclusion of this project in the adjusted 7th Power Plan on Vietnam's National Energy Development. The Ambassador affirmed that energy cooperation is currently a quite important field in the current period. This partnership will ensure the abundance and stability of energy sources and ensure energy for Vietnam in the process of strengthening trade relations between the two sides.
The Ambassador also emphasized his commitment to continue efforts to resolve issues related to the war's legacy such as searching for military remains, removing landmines, dioxin detoxification... These activities will create more bonds and promote the friendly relationship between the two countries.

Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung welcomed the Ambassador Delegation to visit and work in Hai Phong.
Within the framework of the working visit to Hai Phong, the delegation will visit the Navy Command and Coast Guard Region 1 Command; Vietnam Maritime University; Methadone treatment facility and Bach Dang Giang historical site.
